I found something very odd, more than one but one I want to mention.

In my Austrian campaign Spain died out with the loss of Sardinia to Rebels.

All the North American possessions went rebel and did not emerge as nations. They were Mexican Rebels and so on. Well Cuba and Hispaniola were Pirate Rebels. I later noticed that the Leeward Islands were also Pirate Rebels. In the past Caribbean Island Regions became Pirate, now they are Pirate Rebels and not a part of the Pirate Nation.

I guess it was a fix for Pirate reemergence or some crash issue...now the Pirates will never get so strong.

Yup, pirate rebels now are 'separate' from pirates. I kind of liked the old way of them reemerging as a proper faction better.

As to South America, I have seen Gran Colombia emerge from New Andalusia in my GB game in 1.3.1. So, I guess, it can be either rebels or a proper faction.

ive also seen gran colombia emerge. oh, oh how i longed to destroy it........

as to new spain not re-emerging, perhaps it is because it would have to be a spanish protectorate, which is impossible?

i suggest playing a campaign as spain, gaining new spain, then letting it all rebel (destroy all buildings, take out all troops, set taxes to the highest for both)
