I'm hoping someone can help as I can't get the required assistance from Activision nor Sega. I installed MTW on my laptop. I'm not very comp savvy so bear with me. Running Windows XP, Intel Core 2, 2.4ghz processer, Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M graphics card, plenty of disk space. installation went fine and the problem is the game crashes back to my desktop when i try to start a campaign. I can run a quick battle or historic battle without issue but as soon as i set up a campaign, hit the begin button, the game drops out when on the Medieval title loading page. I ran thru the suggested fixes - making sure screen res was same in game and out, updating all drivers for video, sound cards as well as direct X but the problem persists.
the only thing i can figure is my video card does not appear on the box as a recommended card (i'm not sure if mine is better or worse than what the game calls for). But i would think if it wasn't compatible, i wouldn't be able to run portions of the game without issue.

please, any suggestions would be appreciated. sorry for the long thread

thanks

Welcome to the Org, ghouse! ~

Unfortunately, MTW has problems with some newer video hardware, nVidia graphics cards especially, and CA/Activision/Sega have pretty much punted on MTW support. You may want to try the "button fix" suggested in this thread (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=103656), it has helped others get the campaign map running.

As an aside, maybe we (the .Org) ought to get the two replacement .bif files into a separate downloadable hosted here, for simplicity sake.

thank you very much, the button fix worked and allowed me into the camp portion of the game.

Next question (sorry to be a pain) - i'm having issues with my mouse within the game. i was running a battle tutorial and can use the mouse to move and select the unit panel at the bottom. I cannot, however select the actual icon of the unit in the battlefield nor left click to move anywhere.
Selecting menus, options etc before i get into the actual tutorial is fine and i did check to make sure mouse look and mouse move were checked.

anyone have a similar problem or know a solution?
thanks again

Unfortunately there is no known solution to this problem. It is caused by Nvidia 8xxx and 9xxx series cards - and the Quadro, is in basic terms, an 8xxx series Nvidia chip marketed under another name.

Your only solution is to run the game on a different machine. Sorry I can't be of much more help.
