I saw my first actual naval invasion while playing a Ottoman campaign yesterday. Before this the closest I saw was a Portuguese army load onto ships and take off and then it came back two turns later and disembarked the troops where they started from.

This time the French landed troops in Morrocco and then captured the city the following turn. I wasnt able to see where they launched from in France. I was so happy to see it. I was beginning to think it would never happen for me. Since then I been waiting for the French to attack the Barbary regions by land from Morrocco but so far they seem happy to camp along their border. :charge:

Well, playing as UP, I see Marathas send a full stack to Ceylon every 2-3 turns... It seems, invasions do happen along some scripted paths. Other times, I guess when the AI loads the troops without a script, they end up sitting in the middle of the sea for decades, unless some other AI's fleet does not take the poor hungry sods out of their misery.

As Prussia, my allies Great Britain have been unloading men all over my empire. I saw some marching around in Italy and they landed some in NW Germany as well.

In my Prussia campaign, Great Britain disembarked in Venice and took the city. 10 turns later, the French came from Rome :inquisitive: and took Venice from the Brits.

I've seen France take Iceland for some reason, and in the same game GB too Denmark.
Those are only notable ones I can remember.

Well, it is happening often enough it would seem.

In my latest campaign I took a look at India. The Dutch had invaded and took Bengal and the next region.

Later in the game the Dutch had been kicked out but invaded Mysore. Then they were kicked out and the Moguls invaded and took Ceylon. That was a lot of AI invasions.

And as a bonus, though not a sea invasion, Sweden took Denmark and Norway all by themselves!

I think, the key naval invasion type that remains to be seen is a continental power (not Dutch or Portuguese) appearing in India. Neither I have seen the AI reinforce it's continental forces with anything from Europe ever.

The Caribbean islands seem a "dark zone" for the AI too. It seems, the player can safely leave all of them undefended. The AI never does anything there (except some port blockades).
