I havent' played ETW since patch 1.2 treid to fix things. I mean, the game works but I dunno. I'm just not inspired to play it. Thus I was wondering how much other people play it compared to the other TWs(as I still play RTW via EB quite often and MIITW for the awesome mods).

Check all of them that apply.

1.2 took a lot out of it but 1.3.1 has put most of it back.

I do think it will finish as a very good game. The CA staff is committed though some of the changes have not been for the best at times. I think it will be sorted out well.

i, for one, hated M2TW. im not sure why. i bought the game, played about 5 hours of it, made a movie using M2TW, then put it away and uninstalled it, never to be touched again.

RTW was different. it was so good. ive played probably around 200 hours or more of RTW, mostly with EB though. but ive played more consecutive hours with ETW than RTW or EB. at most, probably 2 hours at most with RTW. with ETW. a least an hour, at most 5 hours.

More than any other TW game.
RTW was excellent, lots of rebellious provinces and barbaric factions so you didn't really have to rely on numbers but you could really beat enemy with superior troops.
M2TW wasn't as good in my opinion because for most factions there were little other options than to fight people you were supposed to be friends with (fellow christians or muslims for example). And even if Crusades was big thing in the era, it was impossible to really fight muslims when the fun was over after couple provinces.
ETW is great because there's no pope and if you don't want to expand somewhere anymore, you can just choose to colonize India or Americas. Aside from diplomacy the game is best TW game so far.

i dont think its possible to have played it more than RTW or M2TW, which have both been out for a couple years, as opposed to empire total war, which has only been out for 4 months.

anyway, i used to play it a ton, but then i got Oblivion, and that takes up most of my game time.

plus every time i go to play it, i immediately have to fight this one batle, but my puckle guns are glitched, so it makes it hard to move.

When each new game comes out I switch to it and pretty much abandon the previous game it seems. ETW is my main game right now until something else catches my fancy. Is it my fav TW game? Not sure. I liked them all for various reasons. I cant seem to decide which of the TW games is my fav.

Side note: Yes, they were all buggy at release and I dont excuse CA for that. They need to stop releasing buggy games! :furious3:

I dunno, I'm planning on playing more MIITW since it was great post Kingdoms and the LotR mod is so epic. I actually reenacted charge of Rohan at Minas Tirith with 22,000 men(Rohan wins btw).

I came into the series via RTW, and I love that period of history more than anything else (see avatar:grin2:) M2TW was a lot of fun, I would have liked a bigger map, and not medieval, but roman. :laugh4:

My E:TW time has been short, but thats because of the large number of other games I've been playing. Around 15 DS games, EU3, Street Fighter 4, L4D etc.

I played all of them, though STW only on a friend's PC, not on my own, therefore I only played ETW more than STW. Its got a very long way to go to overcome any of the other 3...

I played ETW more then I did M2TW, but not very much, kind of sluggish on my computer sadly. :wall:

Don't play it at all; it won't run. Wasted fifty bucks.

I play ETW as much as possible. I think about it on the throne, in the shower, when I'm cooking and eating. When I go to bed I think about it until I fall asleep, and then I dream about it until I wake up. I never play it before breakfast though. That'd be crazy. :laugh4:

Not at all. And I probably won't, ever. I played M2 for only a few hours, got fed up with the same old, same old and gave it to a friend. I still play RTW & mods every so often, but Samurai Warlords still gets the most gameplay (STW modded to play on MTW/VI) and will probably remain my favorite.

Hmmm...

Too much.

I looked at my stats once on steam...it was like 144 in two weeks, and that is with weekends off...not as much now but still too much.:laugh4:

I don't play it at all now. It's a frustrating mess and attempting a campaign is almost unbearable especially when you have to sit for ages even on fast forward while the AI slowly, so very, very slowly tries haplessly to climb about four ropes to get through your defenses. It's painful and depressing. I've totally given up on this game and I'd be willing to bet everything I own that the patches will soon stop coming and once again a Total War game will have failed to achieve its potential except this time more spectacularly than ever before.
Medieval 2 is and will undoubtedly continue to be the pinnacle of the series for me and that's what I'm playing at the moment. I really had hope for Empire. Bought the Special Forces edition and the DLC to but now I give up.

I don't play it much, if at all. I got this rush of excitement when I bought the game but the excitement faded as I played the game. ETW doesn't seem to stick like previous games have. I now mostly play RTW mods with the occasional M2TW campaign.

loved Medieval 2 Total War, I don't seem to remember minding all the battles in medieval 2 total war as much as I do mind the battles in empire it seems. I loved the whole royal families aspect and traits on my generals and such, while ETW has kept the traits, theres no royal family tree to obsess over and make sure yer royal family keeps going strongly!

I happily threw that ETW CD out the window! !!! the game was junk from the onset, with so many countless CTD's with Ship/Fleets. Game was nothing more than a bunch of marketing Hype, not thoroughly tested/proven before release by CA .

a damned shame, STW- Great game. RTW- outstanding. MTW M2TW, both excellent. ETW- just a fancy candy wrapper! useless! !!!

I'll give East India Company a try, when it is released. Somehow I have a feeling that game will work just fine, error-free, since CA was not involved!

Heh, and I have yet to open up my ETW that is wasting my hard-drive space. I am thinking I will soon either delete it or move to a disk, as I have not yet bothered with the game and I have had it since its release.

wait. so you bought the game at release.....then haven't played it? that seems a little odd. alot of improvements have been made, and mods extend gameplay a ton.

I bought RTW on the day it was released and played it non-stop for just over a year until I stumbled across RTR by accident. Then I started playing it and other mods, and haven't stopped.

I also bought Med II on Day 1 and played it exclusively for about three months, until I gravitated back to Rome. I started playing Med II again when the big mods started appearing (Broken Crescent, PDER, etc.) and now I play it almost as much as I still do Rome.

ETW was again acquired on the first day of release and, unlike many, I've had no technical issues with either it or Steam, and only about two CTD's. However, it's exclusivity oof my attention barely lasted three weeks! While I have no real issues with the battles, either land or sea, I find the whole experience bland and uninvolving, it compleltely fails to capture my imagination. Each time a new patch or hotfix is released I try again, but I rarely get past setting up the first turn as it seems all so futile.

I'm not saying it's a bad game, just that it's not for me. I hope that once the full conversion mods start appearing things will change, but I'm not too bothered, as there's still plenty going on in the modding worlds of RTW and Med II.

I hated it at first and went back to RTW. Now I can barely go a day without playing it. It's the best thing since man maybe walked on the moon, or perhaps in a weird studio set with unusual gravity. That video with the astronauts jumping like Bill and Ben doing the 'astronaut olympics' until one of them falls over onto his back does look like a fake. Flapping and bobbing about at the apex of a jump in low gravity is very hard to explain. :dizzy2:

I play it less than any of the earlier titles. But the poll won't let me choose to have none of the boxes ticked.

there should be an option saying 'none of the above'. i mean, even me, who has played ETW from like march 7-ish up until now almost every day or every other day, has definitely not played as much as RTW or M2. obviously, because they were out much longer.
