View Full Version : Installing extras
Hello,
I'm installing extras, I think they work, but I don't see all combinations. Does the selective forum filter work properly now? The Backroom could not be excluded recently, it seems to be possible now?
Java chat is restored as well as the uploader, LDM, Wiki, table code, large editors, extra google search radio & TV, sort by thread prefixes, PM receipt on by default and badges. Useralbums and attachments should work too.

Awsome!:medievalcheers:
Arcade is installed too. Please note that some games just can't insert the score into the database. Play those games just for fun.
Installed option to choose your postbit. https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/profile.php?do=editoptions Thread Display options. It's displaying the new system by default, but each user can set it to display to the old system.

Thanks, Tosa. I was a bit confused by the new layout.

Me too. But if I can change it then it's OK!
A tiny typo made everything disappear at first.
I would personally prefer the old system to be default, but I'm not sure the code can be reworked. Better see first how we like this option.
You may need to reset your cache to revert back to the old style postbit. Wouldn't revert until I did so.

This new one is not that bad but I, personally, prefer the old one.
Urlavatars, some extra browsing buttons and BB sig.

What hooahguy said, how do you change back the layout of posts? I can't seem to find it in options.
Nevermind, it was a checkbox
Good work restoring the PM and Forum exlcusions

yay found a bug:
Even with the old postbit enabled and cache cleared, after you quick-edit a post, that particular post will appear in new postbit until you refresh the page

This morning while I've been posting, its tried to double post everything, may just be a network thing from my side though.
except this one
new post bit? Looks exactley normal when i just edited this.
oh its moving me up to the new format of posts, while other posts are still with their avatars to the left.

i have that too. its really annoying.
That happens with PM's, no matter what you change, the "postbit thingie" won't return to the old one.
Disabled the postbit choice, I think it's not good enough?
I didn't even notice at first and was just about to get used to it, wanted to try whether it makes things nicer on my cellphone but now it's gone.

It was not really suited to this board. The "horizontal" band layout is better for pure support forums with a minimalist layout and where avatar sizes are very small (e.g. 32x32) or non existent. Avatar sizes here are 50x70 (portrait orientation) and some users enable the URL avatars which are even larger. Taking into account the user signature, this equates to the post row section becoming far too deep and the portrait orientation of the avatar not fitting in well with the horizontal band layout creating gaps and wasted space. In a nutshell the current layout is the best option for the .org IMHO.

First of all, thank you Tosa Inu sama.
An oddity. Non-staff member names appear red/orangish until they turn back to the normal blue when you hover on them.

Actually, it's always done that. Or at least, it has since I joined the forums back in 2002. :juggle2:
I only noticed that problem once, several months ago and it went back to normal at some point - don't remember when exactly. They're normal blue here.

There's something awkward about the colour scheme, it appears. The "FREE EAST TURKESTAN!" phrase in my signature is supposed to be in navy blue but instead appears orange-reddish. When I click-drag the phrase, however, it turns to navy blue.

Its blue to me, and the names have never been anything but blue...
I'd be looking at your computer. :laugh4:

Might be video driver issue on my end. Weird.

Really? They've always appeared red to me when I mouse over them, and they still do. :inquisitive:

Like pev, it's blue on my screen, so I'm not sure what the issue would be. Video drivers are as good a guess as any, I suppose.

And redish when I click in them!
Hello,
They are like URLS. So, they are say blue normally, and change color when you hover or have visited it recently.
Mouzafphaerre, political sigs are Backroom stuff, sorry.

Indeed they are and I have removed the phrase. As for the flag, if I'm forced to remove it, I'll demand that all national/provincial flags be removed from the sigs as well.

IMO you should be fine now.
Really? They've always appeared red to me when I mouse over them, and they still do. :inquisitive:
No, the issue is that the links start out appearing red. Then when you mouse over them and then move the cursor away again they go back to normal blue. It also goes back to normal if you scroll the window up and down - I think. Anyway Mouzafphaerre has solved it by updating video card drivers (which is probably how I, indirectly, solved it also - though I can't remember exactly) so it's all ok now.
