i still play, just not online , and i've been less active in the online community, medieval killed shogun, but i guess we cant complain, after all all ive heard and seen about medieval is good things, nothings forever, eventually medieval will become just like shogun, thats why apart from true classics im giving up multi-play.....just because unlike singleplayer, online the games seem to fall out of favor pretty quickly, anyhoo see yous in medieval....eventually, im not rushing out to get it but it'll probably end up on my desk sometime......and fantasy total war should be kewl when its finished

i've found a pretty neat game, called empire earth, as lnog as you dont mind going through the scenario editor you switch it so all players are stuck on the renaissance epoch, now you switch it so all players can build pagoda's, asian houses, ashikagu gunners( its suppoused to be ashigaru but they must suck at spelling) and samurai, now you have a pretty close feudal japanese game, but then again its just a poor stand in, ubt at least you can play it online, and you can use european and islamic armys too(european is default all players unless you edit the scenarios)but i hope that they make a shogun total war 2, like medieval, but not....yea that'd rock! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

p.s. you can also get chinese infantry, and when they die they stick there spears into the ground and jump on them....the samurai slice there guts..hehe:P

In the last two weeks I have been playing at least an hour a day...sometimes more. I don't have MTW (yet) and I think I'll wait til the bugs're fixed.

Shogun games lately have been great fun and have met some great players and seen a few crusty vets in there too. Notable battle performances from 7bear7pop, celtiberosjasobu, AceSo, Keyboard,
ELiteOfBoon, and lucashpinto.

After just hearing about the MTW MP lobby I am beginning to appreciate the STW MI/WE lobby's bland functionality.

i still play MI and WE as well; that game gives u a special feeling and until now M:TW does not seem to me so good as Shogun was; Shogun looks smthin like a Kurosawa movie but M:TW looks as a game http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

I have RE-tested it, RE-played it, and I must admit that this game is great.

Which one is the best ??? ... mmm ...
hard to say...

I play MTW cause it is a new game. But when MTW will, in 1 year or 1,5 max become an "old" game, I am not sure ... perhaps I would come back to STW !

I just figured out a good offensive formation in STW/MI. I had been doing well with my defensive setup, but suffered in offense. So, I still play this game to try new formations with troops I know well.

MTW has alot more STUFF than STW; and more STUFF is not neccesarily better; theres more micor management. The irony here is that originally I heard about MTW and wanted to buy because I'm more interested in middle ages history; but I bought STW first to see what the engine was like, then bought MTW. I'm thinking of selling MTW on ebay now and holding on to STW, STW just had such a cooler atmosphere and vidoes and the simplicity was a welcome thing - who knows if this MTW patch is any good I might hold on to MTW - plus remember STW already has two expansions out think what MTW will be when two expansions come out for that.

Hmm their really about the same. Perhaps I have problems with my video card but MTW runs fine. I wonder why people say MTW graphics are so much better than STW, if anything their about the same or STW was slightly better. One of the problems I have with MTW is that theres no blood from dead bodies like in STW and also MTW doesnt make huge dust clouds from troops marching - I made sure that under performances both "fauna" and "smoke" were checked off. Also the birds flying around seemed more prevalant in STW than MTW. All these slight issues may not seem like a big deal but add alot to the visual "feel". Fearless if you would like to respond back on this post and tell me why the graphics are better in MTW I'd be interested to hear. Is it the units? Terrain? If anything the terrian was prettier in STW with the mountanous Japenese landscape. I'm just interested to hear back because perhaps my problem lies with my vidoe card, even though the game does run fine.

??????? Not a very nice remark !!
Let me see......Ok a list of some of the people that he has played
Yuuki, Tosa, Ragestorm, UglyRyu, KenchiTera, Dune, Toda, Tinky, RTK Paul, Amp, FasT......
What is your point?
We have swapped from 103 mod to play v1.02 in order that people can get a game, we have helped newbies in the foyer with their patch questions etc as everyone should for we were all noobs once.
We prefer to use 103 stats as the game is far more interesting, should I ask you to swap from v1.02? How many of my 103 games have you joined?
Recently we have been trying out new 105 stats (which are available for download from Shogun Files)
I don't want to go over the old 'splitting the community' arguement as I have always believed that it's so easy to swap stats and enjoy different ways of doing battle. Sadly the majority chose to continue playing 10k per army flat map games http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

...... Memories of ranks of honoured up guns and ashi's spring to mind.

103 was a breath of fresh air after that, offering strategic battles that became hour long epics http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Finally, I enjoy playing my dad at Shogun, it's a nice way to keep in touch but I was disappointed that a member of Clan Shinkage would make such a dishonourable remark

Me.
I picked it up about four months ago, when warlords edition went on sale just prior to MTW came out. Got the full game with all the extras for $10. Only recently had time to install and play, but man-oh-man am I having a blast I'm just starting my second game. I'm playing clan Shimazu on Normal difficulty. My first game was a cake walk on the easy setting, but I figure it was the best place to begin. However, my plan to walk north and eat up the Imagawa lands quickly ended in me getting my teeth kicked in after I conquered Chikuzen. Takeda, whom I had a treaty with, didn't like it that I was waging war on Imagawa. He picked sides and attacked me at Nagato. When I marched an army to lift the seiged castle there Imagawa counter attacked and took back Chikuzen and then went right on into Buzen. Fearful of losing my Daimyo (who was leading the army in Nagato), I left my besieged troops to Takeda and took back Buzen. Unfortunately I lost the majority of my army at Buzen when I ignored terrain. Imagawa came back with a vengence three seasons later and claimed Buzen for good. Now I'm playing defense and trying to rebuild.
It was a bigger jump from Easy to Normal then I thought it would be and I paid dearly for it. Lesson learned. I just hope I can dig myself out of this pit. Like I said I'm having a blast http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
