I've been told I have multicoloured eyes for as long as I can remember, and so I just decided to read up a bit about it on wiki. According to the article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterochromia), there seem to be three main types of this 'heterochromia'. The main kind is where each eye is a different colour from the other. Then there's 'sectoral heterochromia', where there is a patch of a different colour on one of the eyes. And finally, 'central heterochromia', where the centre of the coloured part of the eye is a different colour from the outer coloured bit. From what I gather, each of these conditions are pretty rare. However, having quickly checked to make sure, I can confirm I have all three of them!
One of my eyes is mostly blue, but with a thin brown ring running round the pupil. And the other eye is pretty weird. There's a slightly thicker brown ring running around the pupil, while the rest of the eye is mostly (quite dark) green, although maybe around 1/3 of the outer bit is still brown.
From what I've read, this is caused either by something to do with melanin levels, or by disease or injury... I'm hoping it was the former in my case. :sweatdrop:
Anyway, I coudn't really find any stats on how common this is, although I do remember once when we were checking the colour of each other's eyes in a class at school once, I was the only one with multicoloured eyes. I wonder if any other orgahs have this unique trait? Even if it's just a disease, I still think it's pretty cool.
All three? Wow.
My brother has central heterochromia, green outside, blue inside. And my Uncle has complete heterochromia with one blue and one brown.
Sectoral heterochromia looks the coolest.
I have central heterochromia, green on the outside, orange on the inside. It looks pretty cool, especially when the pupil expands and contracts due to quick changes in light levels. On "official" forms, I just list my eye color as brown though, too much hassle and bother to explain.
A friend of mine has complete heterochromia, one eye blue and one green. The green eye is light green though, it took me a long time to realize she had it. :embarassed:
And as the owner of siberian huskies, I've seen my share of this in dogs. One of mine has one blue eye, the other is half brown/half blue. In canine parlance, complete heterochromia is called "bi-eyed", sectoral heterochromia is "parti-eyed". :smug:

What would you call something that has 3 different eye colours? Cause I have Blue,Green, and Brown in both eyes.
My eyes tend to change their colour; grayish-green and brown.

Mine are central too. They appear to change colors, between green and blue, depending on what I'm wearing, etc. I didn't know it was rare, mostly they just look kind of gray.

I have brown eyes.
Mine are hard to desribe but I think I have central heterochromia(for some reason when I read that I keep reading haematoma). My eyes are a grey/green colour on the outside with brown in the centre. Then I have a thin ring between those which is more prominent in my left eye and is made up of little diamond shaped segments that is kind of an olive green, and then there is a very thin whitish line between the olive green middle ring and the grey/green outer ring.
I've always just thought that I had hazel eyes.

It's a sign O' the Devil!
more seriously though, central heterochromia is pretty common really, especially in hazel eyes, hazel on the inside, green (possibly with gold) on the outside. That would be me, without the gold, but I do have a hint of blue just before the whites.

It's a sign O' the Devil!
lol, you know one of my crazy relatives over in Northern Ireland said that to me once. Apparently, people used to also think that along with the multicoloured eyes, people with ginger hair, and any left-handed people, were thought to be children of the devil. I've got all 3 traits. :skull:

DEVIL MAN!
Wish I had something other than brown eyes/dark brown hair.
Bleh.
Normal people wishing they had abnormal features :drama2:
If only you knew the pain!
My eyes are as described above and my hair has been constantly changing shades through out my life, from pure jet black when I was a newborn to light blonde when I was in kindergarten that slowly darkened in to a dark brown just when I was starting high school then back to light blonde again around year 10 and back to the dark brown I have now.
Plus I can wiggle my nose and ears and make strange noises with my feet that no-one ever believes is coming from my feet until I show them, and I can roll my eyes back into my head so I look like a zombie in pictures. :clown:

This one time, in a soccer game their left back got a pass that was meant for me, he missed it, and it went towards the sideline, but he got it before it went out, I was closing in on him fast, and I started doing a throaty evil laugh. Not only did he back away from me and the ball, the spectators took numerous steps backwards. I got the ball. :smug:

And now I think about it, it's a bit random/off-topic, but hey.

Hazel eyes here with green being predominant most of the time. I usually say it is green... mostly because a lot of women I have talked to say green eyes are more attractive
