Well, I downloaded your mod a year ago on my computer and really enjoyed playing it. However, I recently got a laptop for my birthday. Unfortunately, my laptop came with Vista and so, I am having trouble installing EB this time round. I have followed the instructions provided in the installation guide ( I think) but despite this, all my attempts so far have still proven fruitless. These are all the steps I took when downloading EB. Hopefully, you'll be able to tell me where I went wrong:

1. I downloaded EB 1.1 from your website (using filefront, the torrent one wasn't working with me)

2. I started the setup

3. The setup thing got to the part where it asked me where I wanted to download EB to (or something)

4. Following the instructions of the installation guide, I installed EB to the exact same place RTW was installed to; which according to the special instructions for computers with Vista, I installed to 'C:\ Users\etc...' , rather than 'C:\ program files'

5. Since the setup thing did not question my choice, I continued with the installation and finished it

6. the EB icon appeared in my start menu (but not as a shortcut on the desktop for some reason)

When I tried to run it, this happened:

1. For a few seconds my desktop turned black and all the icons on it were enlarged

2. Then RTW started up for a second and showed the screen that you see before the opening movie starts

3. Then it CTD'd
Curiously, after the 3rd time I tried to start EB up after it CTD'd. A little box appeared in the corner of my desktop telling me that "For your own good, Windows colour scheme ha been turned off!" (or something like that). And then Windows Help appeared saying "Why are some visual elements being automatically turned off?". What did I do wrong?

Try running Configuration, make sure it shows errors and turn movies off. Try running EB that way and see what happens. I'm running on x64 Vista and it's fine. I hate the Users folder as much as the Program Files folder (not unrestricted areas) so I install in C:\RTW_EB or any name you'd like. Works fine.

P.S. How much RAM do you have and are you running Vista 32 or 64?

Thanks for the reply, I'll try the configuration thing.

Unfotunately, the same thing as before happened when I turned the movie off and told it to show errors. My laptop has 3GB of ram. Sorry for the dumb question but how do I find out whether I am running Vista 32 or Vista 64

If it's got 3GB I'd bet you anything it's 32. Now...I don't know what to say. I wish I could help. Your RAM is fine...I don't know. = /

Good luck.

I have no idea why this is happening. Are you sure the same thing doesn't happen when you run vanilla RTW? Anyway, I would move the installation to a folder outside Users to see if it makes any difference, for instance the one Vartan suggests.
