User-Friendly Linux Distro

We have encountered one of the most annoying OS crashes (WinXP) and formatting partition C: is the last resort.

So basically I'm looking for a size and user-friendly Live CD Linux distro that will not make up weird technical excuses while moving files from C: to D:.

Being able to format C: with NTFS and Windows installable status is a plus.

Any ideas ?

I don't know much about this, but based on my experiences with my laptop, I say avoid Xandro's. I think it was based off Debian and it seems quite limited.

I've used GParted LiveCD (http://gparted.sourceforge.net/index.php) to change partition sizes, I believe it can be used to copy data and maybe format as well.

I think any distro with a live cd would do fine. You can get Ubuntu here (http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download).

You also may want to try something like the Ultimate Boot CD (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) and see if it can do what you need.

An Ubuntu LiveCD would probably be the most versatile and easiest to use. You should be able to mount NTFS volumes with this and transfer files between partitions as well as using gparted to create/resize partitions. Be careful though if you have important data as any kind of partition resizing can seriously mess things up.
