Simple enough thread, what's your favorite (and least favorite) EB music? My favorite pieces are the relaxing Semitic campaign map theme, the general Eastern campaign map theme (the one with the cool drums underneath and the amazing string section), and the nomad battle theme with the slightly Oriental flavor. I can't stand the Persian war music with all the awful horns though, which is annoying because it makes it hard to play Pontos or Parthia. Really though, just about all the music in this game is as good or better than the music in vanilla, which is saying something because that music was awesome.

I like the Nomad battle themes :clown:.

My favourite is the Eastern Battle Theme. The worst is probably Romani music, it lacks vivacity and is repetitive and boring.

I love barbarian battle theme, it make me feels something like.
DAAAMN!! I NEED TO SMASH SOME ROMIES!:smash:
i also like all nomad themes and greek ones too (western & eastern), my least favourite are probably roman themes, except track 23, was that the name?

No kidding. I love all of the music except for the blaring horns. It's great the first time, but after that I hate going into battle as Pontos. :wall:

Just letting you guys know - we have a standing policy of not allowing posts here that bad mouth musical artists (or their work) who have given us for free their work to use or even created pieces for us. They don't do us huge favors to get trashed here, and they aren't part of the team (with one exception). They aren't here to defend their work, nor should they.

Awww, are you kidding me? That is my absolute favourite!! Those horns are so unusual and cacophonous that in their oddity they are strikingly beautiful, such as the alien and unusual yet beautiful Martian sunset.

EDIT: Speaking of Music, where can you download the Musica Romana songs that are part of EB? I could not find any links on their site as to how to buy their music electronically. I have this marvellous Greco-Roman history professor and he said he has just recently experienced an inexplicable yet immensely powerful urge to discover and learn about Ancient Greek and Roman music, somethign which he had long overlooked in his studies, books, lectures, and the archaeological digs he participated in. So I remembered Musica Romana, and I was wondering if I could buy their albums online. Anyone know?

I know where the music is, and I have went to that folder before. What I need to know is if there is a way to get Musica Romana online.

My favourite is the Hellenistic song featuring flutes, I don't recall the name.

Desert, cataphract thunderstorm, dust, earthquake, enemies are screaming but you can not hear them well: Carrhae.

Horns all the way. It's a battle, you want to be as noisy as possible. What better way than to wildly expel air into a horn and to hell with the outcome?

There is no such thing as bad music in EB.

Right, and I also love the vanilla music.

Me too, but some tunes in EB irritate me and then I just set music to 0 and switch on the radio.

I love all the barbarian ones by with all the pipes and big deep drums. My favourites are Barb_PIM9, Barb_PIM1 and Barb_CNH43. The pipes in all those songs have many similarities to the didgeridoo, which is one of my favourite instuments.

I love the Eastern battle theme so much.
Especially before the Horse Archer Massacre...
Probably the best for me

All other themes are also good.

EB has great music, although I have to admit, after a few hours of constant playing I turn it off, cuz it begins to annoy me.

Yeah, some of the battle music sounds like buzzing flies :laugh4:

I like all the music, even after hours of playing. The only thing that annoys me somewhat is that one of the roman songs just starts to sound like it's getting going and then it stops.

I'm partial to the steppe music selections, both campmap and battle. I also really like the Eastern and Semitic campmap tunes. The steppe music is really relaxing though, it starts to lull me to sleep after a few hours of playing (though that's probably good, hard to hit the end turn button when you're nodding out at the computer :laugh4::laugh4:)

I must be like the only person who loves the Roman theme song here. ; ;
As for least favorite, basically the Hellonic music.

Roman music is nice and eastern battlemusic like Pahlava are great.

Well, the Greek music is repetitive simply because we don't have a lot of different selections for it. I have been trying for a few years, but haven't had any luck yet. Still trying though.

I agree that the Eastern battle music is jarring, but it's supposed to be that way. I think it's probably the most realistic battle music actually - well, that and the Celtic battle horns.

I think each cultural selection is excellent. And I think the guys up there really meant that they don't particularly like particular styles of music rather than the particular pieces being bad in their own rights.

Indeed. I think the composers have been amazing (especially with the music running during the campaign map), and it's not my intention to "trash" the composers or their work with my disinclination towards the Pontic battle music.

I think the music starts becoming a bit subconscious after you've been playing for a while, and sometimes I find myself whistling along to it. :embarassed:

The only one which annoyed me for a bit was the barbarian flute solo one, I'm not sure which file it is, but to begin with I thought it sounded a bit like a song out of a Grade 1 music book, although now it's started to grow on me

And thanks to this thread it's in my head now :shame:

I think we realize that - and just to make it clear, it's not a policy that we have towards anything else in the mod I am aware of. The relationship with the musicians is just different than the other aspects of the mod, so we have to treat it differently. Thanks for being as understanding about it as you all are here. :2thumbsup:

I find all the music and sounds in EB very enjoyable, except the sounds of a defeat ;)

The barbarian music (celts and sweboz) feels great, savage and mysterious. The roman music is "clean" and got a nice, almost militaristic touch to it. Music of the hellenistic factions too are great and really sets one up in the mood!
