View Full Version : I want to play Shogun online!!
Unfortunately for me, I joined the Total War fan club a bit late. I downloaded Medieval demo just a week before the game came out and was very impressed by it. I didn’t buy the game until much later though along with a copy of Shogun as a supplement (one cannot go wrong with $20). To be honest, I find the battles in Shogun to be much more impressive than ones in Medieval and would prefer to play Shogun online. Every time I tried to log on, however, the game stayed on the logon screen and I could never play. Is it still possible to play Shogun online?

I can't answer your questions, but thanks for your post. I find comment quite interesting given you are new to both MTW and STW.
Did you get the original Shogun or Shogun:MI (Mongol Invaision)? I hope MI.
I wasn't much for MP, and its been a long time since I was on, but I do recall that registering Shogun was a bit of a chore. Did you "register"? If I recall, in the past, I believe one needed to go to the site, register and then attempt to log-on.
Hopefully someone will respond with a more uptodate answer.
BTW, would you like to have Medieval's "features' added to Shogun?
I got the Warlord Edition, which has the Mongols on it. I have tried registering and logging on from their website but I did not get in, as I said before. Maybe something with the server.
I feel that Medieval is basically like Shogun except with improved campaign map, troop diversity and deeper diplomacy (somewhat). The tactical engine is a lot worse, however, the graphics and effects are bad (compared to how Shogun looked) and it runs a lot smoother, as I can play with sound turned ON and with no slowdowns (unlike Medieval). However there is just something about the campaign map in Shogun that I find nauseating (this is not an overstatement) and it is almost a deterrent from playing the game any length of time before I return to Medieval for a more satisfying campaign experience though less satisfying battles.
online gaming is still working although not many players play it anymore...best time to check is around 7-9 pm gmt
especially on sunday...u wrote u cant play...do u get to the foyer and it's empty? plz describe ur problems so i could help u

The game just stays on the log on screen, I dont even get to the foyer. I will try registering again and than try.
i think i heard the lobby closed down cause no one played on it, if it was you email electronic arts or CA they should know why.
I reregistered and got it working. There is no one to play though...
hmmm,

hopefully everyone is recovering from New Years,
if someone wants to arrange a time to double check this,
there could be a bug in the foyer...
