It was a very generic day in the town of Townie-ville, tucked away in the Obligatory mountains in the southern area of the Kingdom of Nowhere. Of course The kingdom of Nowhere is bordered to the south by the Nasty Dictatorship of Anywhere at all, and the people of Nowhere always feared that Anywhere at all would try and destroy them. So The town of Townie-ville was a buffer zone, lead by the Great Archmage named Achoo, who kept the peace and assured that nothing happened out of the ordinary. Of course then one day everything went wrong....... PC's arrived!!! And that can only mean that something plot related is about to happen! And lo and behold, the next day (insert Generic name here) was missing! his floor bloodstained and his body seemingly lost. Achoo was noticeably disturbed, and so he has called together all of the NPC's with more than one line of dialogue In Townie-ville to help root out these would be Invaders from the Dictatorship of Anywhere at all. May you all pray that the PC's save your unimportant butts! (or not :beam::beam:)



Well everyone welcome to my first Mafia game. This is my first time doing this so be kind of patient with me. I am going for a Roleplayinggame-esque vibe if you cant already tell :beam:, as a major DND addict this is my attempt at partially getting ready for my large game. Such as testing out a new role('s) I think may make the game more fun.

I realize many of you will not get the jokes, so bear with me..... :bow: I will try to make this as fun as possible for EVERYONE, role players or not.

End of Day One

The People of Townie-ville gathered on that first day, Many throwing there votes randomly about with little regard to finding the invaders. Many wove deep back stories of their life before the plot. Slowly people got an idea of who each other was, and in a show of humanity a flood of No Lynch votes began. The dice gods called from on high to keep the Tally, and Lo the tally was kept. And through it all Achoo sat on his great throne with an amused look in his eye, overjoyed he would not have to immolate a Townsman today.

"I am glad of the choice you have all made. I only hope that you have not made a mistake that will get us all killed." With that he rose from his throne and took his staff in hand "This days talk is officially over, perhaps we will be closer to finding these invaders tomorrow. I just hope that when we awake we have not lost more from among us."

Night One


Haley was slinking her way down Townie-ville’s streets when A dark and Mysterious Figure slipped in behind her. She continued walking down the road intent on getting to her destination.
“Well, What do we have here!!!!!” the Figure cackled evilly. “A surprise round that’s what!”
Haley jumped and turned to face the cloaked figure “Wait a minute, that isn’t fair!”
The figure cocked his head to the side “wait, What?”
Haley put her hands on her hips “I didn’t get a spot check! You can’t say it’s a surprise round if I didn’t get a spot check!”
The figure sighed “just my luck, I pick a metagaming PC as a target….. Fine just roll your spot check……”
Haley pulled a small d20 from her pouch, she rolled it on the ground and nodded. “HAH! I got a Natural twenty! That means no surprise for you!” She pulled her longbow from her back, nocking an arrow and pointing at the figure. “And I just won initiative! SNEAK ATTAK!” The arrow thudded into the figures robes pushing him back a step, but he remained standing. “uhhh oh” Haley said, feeling the first signs of dread in her throat. Where was Roy when you really needed a meat shield?
The figure reached down to the arrow, seeming annoyed “Guess what? Now it is my turn.” He pulled the arrow out from him and started muttering over it. A green light began to dully shine at its tip. “M(copyrighted)’s Acid Arrow!” The arrow flew from his hand. Haley desperately threw herself to the side, And the spell hit the ground where she had been standing, The arrows tip began to pump forth an acid, Causing a thick acrid smoke to rise from the ground.
Haley gulped “Double uh oh.” She Ran of down an alley, her bow thrown to the side in a mad dash to get help. Exactly sixty feet later her attacker began swiping his arms out to the side, taking a small piece of Bat Guano from his spell pouch. “And now……. FIREBALL!” A small Golden bead flew out towards the retreating Rogue hitting the ground right at her feet.
BOOM!!!!!
A huge fireball engulfed Haley, to her plaintiff cries of “Evasion! EVASION!!!!!!” The fire petered out as fast as it began, leaving behind the charred corpse of Haley……
The Hooded Figure Cackled once more before saying one last thing “One down.”

Haley the Rogue (TheFlax) is dead



Quintus was happily moping up the floor near the Broken flagon Tavern when he was approached by 2 young emo teens wearing Long Black robes. Kids these days Quintus thought back in my day we didn’t have all these Teens in black just Galumphing around town……
The teens whispered to each other before one spoke up “sooooo uhhh are you like Quintus?”
Quintus’s brow furrowed “why yes I am son now what the heck do you want?”
The teens smirked a bit then took out a pair of Small Daggers “Well…… we kind of want you dead.”

Qunitus’s eyes widened and he jumped backwards using the mop he had in hand as a makeshift Staff. “then bring it ON!!!!! I clawed my way to the top in this town and I am not going to have two teens ruin it all! Did the Rusty bucket send you? Well take this back to whoever hired you!” He leapt forward smacking one teen in the head.

“OOOOOWWWWWW!” he fell backwards and the other teen lunged forward dagger outstretched. It hit Quintus’s side but he simply swiped the mop and sent the dagger flying.

“SEE! I can take anything you can dish out!” he swooned slightly from the wound on his side, but still ran forward against one of the teens.

“wait why are we using daggers?” they both said, and wicked grins spread across there face’s. They both began muttering and raised there hands in the air. A bolt of Force flew from each of there outstretched hands, hitting Quintus and stopping him in his tracks.

“OK that was pretty good.” Quintus swayed for several seconds but kept on moving forward, the Mop held in his hands like a deadly weapon “But I am not dead yet!”
The teens looked at each other and started running down the street “Master did not say killing NPC’s would be this tough! Forget this!”

Quintus has fought off his attackers.


In the morning Achoo called all of the Townies back. His face was grim "Things do not look good, I hope we can find these invaders before more have to die"

Ok then, Things seemed to have winded down.

End Of Day 2

Another day dawned, with the previous nights murder weighing heavily on the minds of many..... Reenkis Roinkis quickly feel under suspicion, to start with in a almost comical manner, but latter turning into something more diabolical. It soon became clear it was he who would be fried to a crisp. He realized it and began edging his way to the back of the group, his eyes shifting. Achoo tallied the votes and rose from his throne.
"Well, it appears today we have all decided on who must be dealt with. Where is Reenkis Roinkis?"
The crowd parted leaving a very agitated Reenkis standing all alone. He sighed and snapped his fingers.
"you can't win them all I guess" Black robes flowed out around him, and he was soon back in his wizards attire. "Now we shall measure the might of my dark necromancy against your own power! Prepare for a gift from Anywhere at all!" He lifted his staff and from its tip flowed a lightning bolt!

Achoo stood firm, and the magical spells of resistance held against the storm of Lightning. "Is the best you can do? I have had dozens of duels during my life foolish Necromancer. and I learned something important."

The Necromancer looked puzzled "what?"

"Never use a spell with an energy type that can be blocked with a simple Resist energy spell." With that he held his hands out and yelled a command word "Force substituted Fireball!" a small clear bead sped from his hand, flying towards the Necromancer
"Wait.... is that even a legal choice with energy substitu....... AGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!" The bead hit and expanded into a orb of ripping force, tearing the Necromancer to bits. The other townies in the room were thrown back by the spell. But when it all ended Achoo still stood in front of his throne.

"Well I am glad that is over with. Good job people of Townie-ville, but do not become arrogant, there are yet more invaders on the loose."

Johnhughthom was sitting around in his room, thoroughly bored. A knock came on the door… He walked over and slowly opened the door. He was greeted by a hulking figure, with Swords in hand.

Hmm jht if he was a commoner would have been level 4 or 5 at least with 25hp. Since that is unlikely I would guess he had some sort of role (his magic would suggest so). Writeup doesn't mention his stature so we cannot be sure if he was one of QJC's apprentices or not. His vote pattern may or may not suggest so.

His attacker...well we don't know what he would have done if jht had actually answered his question. While the question may sound a bit paladinish, its unlikely to be the case as paladins have detect evil which would automatically flag things up. I would guess that its a fighter type vigilante though. Doing some 36 dmg using dual wield and that on the first hit only suggests either high level fighter with high dex and str or mid level ranger.

How a commoner like me knows this? Metagaming o course :grin:

QJC was ushering the last of the patrons out of the Broken Flagon. A big hulking figure opened the door.

"Bar's closed....oh, it's you?! Come in, sit down, what can I do you for?" asked QJC

The big man plopped down in front of the bar, his swords clanking against his armor, and said,

"I don't think I can do it. I've never killed an innocent before!"
"Nonesense!" quipped QJC, "All you need is some liquid courage! Have a pint or ten on the house."

4 pints later....

Man: "But what if he's got a family, what are they going to drink after he's gone?"
QJC: "Don't worry there is a single bartender one village over. Looks exactly like him, just with green hair. His wife will find someone. Have another pint."

Another 4 pints later....

Man: "I...I don't think I can go through with it."
QJC: "A deal's a deal - drink more"

A bathroom trip and another 4 pints later

Man: "Have I ever told you I love you man....you're the best!"
QJC: "You know this is a PG-rated game right? We serve nonalcoholic Ale!"
Man: "In that case give me one more pint, and I'm ready!"

QJC turned around to pour another tall glass of frothy ale. The man suddenly rose from his seat and with a single swing of his sword chopped off QJC's head.

He sighed, "A deal's a deal" The man poured the last glass of kiddy ale out, presumably in memory of the dead man, turned off the light, flipped the "Closed" sign and closed the door behind him.

The bartender laughed "isn't it obvious. With that old fool dead I now own the only working bar in the town. And because of that, when I sell it and move out of this dump I am going to filth rich! I already forged the will so that I own the other bar as well, and with luck I can sell them both for quite a bit of money in a city!" His face took on a joyful quality " I have wanted out of this town for as long as I can remember my friend. And now I can leave with STYLE!" He laughed a bit "plus, I did kind of want to see the old fool dead." He packed up the last of his things and hurried out the door. leaving a stunned Yaropolk sitting in an empty bar, with mixed feelings.

Askthepizzaguy, the shady bartender of the Rusty Bucket, has killed his opponent and left the city with more money than he can carry. Yet he still IS carrying it..... Stupid people not following encumbrance penalties.....


Achoo called everyone together his face a smile. "Well everyone I have great news! Newest Intel from Anywhere at all states that we managed to eliminate all of there agents!" he claps his hands "you all deserve a round of Applause! More than anything it is due to all of you that this town has stayed safe!"

Yaropolk stands "I am Roy the fighter, sent here to investigate anywhere at all. Soooo do I get a reward or anything? I mean it is going to take a ton of cash to resurrect Haley, and I did just save your butts." he had the greedy look of a PC about him, which everyone surely noticed.

"NO WAY!!!! KICK THE FOOL OUT OF TOWN!" came some calls from the crowd, but on the whole there were calls for some great reward to be given to this hero. In the end, a huge sum of gold was brought before him and he was told he could have as much as he wanted.
he had only one word "AWESOME." Sadly, Roy ended up spending almost all of it on Drinks and High price Call girls, and Haley never did get resurrected. Roy assumed she would have wanted it that way.

Khazaar, or as he was called by the townies, Fluffy the Impaler. Watched the celebrations with a passing interest, but chose instead to simply sleep through it. Simply muttering "Peopleses..." He lived a happy life terrorizing the commoners of the Village, and after some time chose a career in the field of lair guarding, which he was able to accomplish with much relish. He was the First cat to ever Kill an entire party of Adventures. Yeah, be afraid......


The Xenophobic townies, who despised the PC's almost as much as the Invaders, were deeply disappointed that Roy the fighter lived. and it made them deeply question there Xenophobia. They started a support group, and had some success. Until a party of adventures came in looking for stuff to kill and ended up Slashing White eyes:D to bits. Afterwards they were seen once again protesting The evilness of PC's. Beskar became the Head of a large Charity called "Lairs for the Lairless" who provided Caves and buildings for those who had lost them due to PC's interaction. Death is Yonder Still lives in Townie-ville in fact he became Achoos apprentice, learning from him the mysterious arts of Magic. But he stills enjoy's lurking around Far to much for Achoo's taste....


The townies went back to there daily lives of providing quests and selling stuff to PC's. However, when Nowhere's army entered the area on there way to a grand campaign, many chose to join it as reserve fighters. A Very Super Market Became a war hero! taking down dozens of Anywhere at all's troops, and became a powerful fighter. Tratorix ended up in the Spec Ops services of the Army, becoming a cunning rogue. spL1tp3r50naL1ty found religion in his stay with the Chaplains, and became a cleric of power! And finally FactionHeir discovered hidden Sorcery in his bloods, and became quite adept in there use. The four Became PC's in there own right, who slowly pushed back Anywhere at All.

The invader all ended up In the Nine Hells Of Bator, where the lived out eternity telling there sad story to any evil soul they passed. They never did accept how they could have been picked out so easily....

I believe I had to make space in my inbox, but mine was the same as Quintus.JC's. I was a neutral, NPC.


You guys might have found my play interesting this game. I could roleblock or investigate, but my main goal was to rid the world of Quintus.JC.

I investigated Yaropolk on the first night, and figured out he was the fighter. I didn't know if he was town or mafia, but he revealed he was town and that he had just lost his mason partner. Poor soul. I was considering asking him to just flat out murder QJC or else I would expose him to the mafia, but... to be honest, I am not as heartless as I pretend to be when I am a mafioso. So I simply asked him to whack QJC as a favor, and then I would stick around and help him out. He had a good idea who might have killed TheFlax, and so he asked me to start a bandwagon on Reenk Roink. He said if I started a bandwagon on Reenk, it would be a help. I asked Beskar to follow, as a favor to me, since he had already expressed his feeling of defeat with the role he got. Reenk went down, and as I tried to say, it really wasn't anything personal Reenk, I wouldn't do that for metagaming reasons; it was a tip from a pro-townie which I had confirmed on my own.

Yaropolk was in a tough spot... he had just lost his investigator and the game already wasn't going well. Even after Reenk turned out to be evil, there was more I could do, especially if he wasn't going to be killing off Quintus.JC this night phase. He had a responsibility to the town to keep looking for the scumbags. Well... I sent him to Quintus.JC, my arch-nemesis, so that he could get some more help. I told him to offer to kill me, and in exchange, have QJC block or investigate people. He agreed.

Quintus had already been attacked, and had a fair idea who another one of the mafia was, so if he could convince that person (johnhughthom) to kill me, I was done for anyway. Since the person I found was a goody-goody townie, the scum was much more likely to cut a deal. I sent a message to QJC indicating that I wanted him to go ahead and help Yaropolk if I died. The town was in a difficult spot. We each said, in effect, it stinks that we both have to try to kill each other, may the better man win, and hey, let's help the town while we are at it. QJC gave Yaropolk the tip on Johnhughthom, and Yaropolk went after his head that night.

The next round, it was just a lucky bandwagon on atheotes, because I didn't have anything to go off of other than he wasn't talking that much and his abstain vote was most curious. Just happened to be a random guess. With 3 scumbags down, I now asked Yaropolk to help me complete my mission, and he agreed. After forming the unlikely trio of 2 neutrals who want to kill each other, and a vigilante, as a pro-town group, and the progress we had made for the town, now was the time to cash my chips in and leave. I had hoped that whatever remained for town to do wouldn't require either me or QJC. Fortunately I was right.

Besides, some of y'all were starting to think I was the last mafia. Ingrates!!!! :laugh4: Always thinking I'm scum when I'm innocent, and innocent when I am scum! Fortunately, I still had my diamonds to rely on.

A lot of the thanks are owed to QJC who really helped out the town after I hooked him up with Yaropolk. It seems my only good investigation was Yaropolk, everyone else turned up boring/innocent. Having another blocker or investigator sure helps matters.

We were on a great track, we thought TheFlax must have been a detective based just on his first round posting and QJC was up to something as well. Both turned out to be good leads (TheFlax had investigated me but couldn't say anything because I killed him :laugh4:) but we couldn't enjoy it because fate was oh so unkind to us. :whip:

Well, well, well look what we have here. A paladins dilemma that is what. You are an average NPC of the town, but you have a little well “quirk”, you really hate these “PC’s” I mean what have they ever done for you? Nothing but inadvertently brought death upon you, that what! You want those fools dead, however you still want those crazy invaders dead as well…. Why cant they all just leave your little perfect town alone?

Abilities:
Vote: yep you guessed it, during each day phase you vote.

Victory condition: Destroy all anti town roles, and kill all PC roles in the game (you will still win even if you are dead). If you succeed in both of these, the Xenophobic townies will be the only ones who are victorious. If you fail to kill the PC’s but still get rid of the invaders, you will have a minor victory.


there you go. Basically townies who want the PC's dead as well.

Every good wizard worth his salt has an apprentice, and in some cases two. You, you fellow apprentice name and your master name. Have been sent to this town to claim it for the people of Anywhere at all. Anywhere at all has decided a ordinary invasion wont work due to Achoo, but perhaps if you can kill enough townspeople and animate them as zombies….. Well, Achoo won’t stand a chance. You may be one of two apprentices, but You both know only one of you can take up your masters mantle. This little plan may be the perfect time to tie up that loose end by killing your fellow apprentice. Be careful, for now you both need each other; choose your time to strike carefully. Go to soon and you will have lost your partner in crime, wait to long and well you may already be dead. Probably best not to tell the master about your little plot though.

Abilities:
Vote: yep, more voting
Backstab: Once during the game you may kill on your own with no help from anyone.
Aid Another: By working with the other Apprentice you can kill one person per night, however Beware, the heroes have a chance of surviving your attempts due to Plot armor.

Victory condition: Kill all Townies and PC’s, also be the last apprentice standing.



I had a few experiments in the game, and this one did not work out well at all..... mostly because the Mafia was killed off so fast.

Interesting note, while john removed the tidbit about getting rid of the other, he kept the backstab, atheotes got rid of the backstab too. :beam:

It seemed like a very well balanced game with the addition of the xenophobic townies though (as they would get rid of the many PC's). Certainly it took a pathway that burned the game out quickly, but your setup was brilliant. :yes:

I blame QJC the most. Not only did you get lucky and not die, you didn't help us but helped the town, and then got killed by them. :wall: :laugh4:

Fighter smash: every night you may choose one person to kill, however, be careful. Choose someone above your level and they may be able to fight back!

Victory condition: eliminate all anti town roles, as long as either you our your friend lives you will still be successful

Flax is dead set on investigating Reenk Roink due to personal competition they have, even though RR doesnt do anything weird. Flax is killed. Goodbye mason group. ATPG investigates me presumably because I voted for him.

Day 2
ATPG contacts me and reveals and asks for help to kill QJC. I agree in exchange for ATPG detective services. I contact QJC and bluff that I am part of a town Mason group and detective fingered him. QJC offers me the same deal as ATPG. I agree in exchange for his detective services. QJC reveals that he found Johnhughthome on N1. I suspect Reenk Roink has same vendetta against the Flax as vice versa and ask ATPG to help me bandwagon RR. I buy time from both detectives for one more night while I kill John.

Night 2
Ask ATPG and QJC to check out Kazaar and DIY since they look suspicous. I kill Johnhughthom. Kazaar cofirmed as cat with superpowers, DIY confirmed as townie who hates PCs.

Day 3
Ask ATPG to help me lynch some lurkers. ATPG correctly fingers Atheotes. I hook up Kazaar and DIY not to vote for each other. ATPG contacts Beskar and bluffs him into revealing some of his role.

Night 3
After much internal delibiration, goodbye QJC. Sorry for the backstab, but I initially contacted you with deception in mind so I feel less obligated to you.

ATPG - I didnt tell you Flax was my only Mason partner until N2, but maybe you figured it out anyway.

edit: whiteyes, I think it would have perhaps been better if you all knew each other, but there was three of you. if you linked up you would have had a good chance to kill of any PC who got exposed.

Congratulation to town for such a swift victory. Mafia did seem doomed after night two but the successful lynching of Atheos was completed unexpected. Once again luck played a major factor; I decided to investigate Johnhughthom purely because I was unfamilar with his playing style, the result was a real plesant surprise. I wasted no time into trying to strike a deal with him to kill ATPG, but he's reply took too long and Yaropolk contacted me. Despite Yaropolk's fishyness John wasn't replying and he is on invisible mode afterall, furthermore when he did eventually reply back it wasn't very satifactory and I was worried that he could decide to off me instead. So I gave him up to Yaropolk in return for protection and the hopes that he would kill APTG later on (that worked out well...). Between this time I was contacted by ATPG and it was then I knew Yaropolk couldn't be relied on since he told me and ATPG separate stories about his roles and the mason group. Night two investigation; I was really intrigued about Khazzar, his role as the enigmatic cat would change the course of the game. Hoping he'd have some sort of killing/protecting powers that would aid me in victory, these hopes were dashed when he told me he was only immune to stuff, but can't do anything special himself. Expected game to end with the lynching of Atheos, when that didn't come I knew either me or ATPG was gonna die tonight, oh well.

Good game ATPG, at least we contributed... somewhat :shrug:

The writeup of QJC´s investigation of me (very funny):

During the night, you see a man approach you and bring you into his bar. There you proceed to be feed copious amounts of alcohol, but nothing a barbarian cat like yourself can handle ehh? He begins to become distressed as you work your way through his stock. He must have been expecting you to fall unconscious…. He lifts a chair and tries to knock you out that way, but you simply fling yourself in his face and batter him into submission. He squeals he was just looking for something, and so you decide to spare him with a warning.
A bartender has attempted to investigate you, due to your near god like power, it has failed.


I thought I was screwed for sure, beeing immune I thought they would think I´m scum and kill me. That´s why I posted that I would squeal like a rat and talk. Interestingly I was contacted by all three (Yaro, ATPG and QJC) claiming to be pro town with contacts to multiple detectives/roleblockers. I thought that very odd and with the explanation out now (they had to kill eachother) it makes more sense that everyone wanted to talk.
