I tried this seige battle several times, all with the same bug over and over:

My infantry kept shooting the enemy, no matter the distance. Th enemy was literally out of range of my fricking cannons set to roundshot, and my stupid infantry kept shooting at the enemy. by the time i realized it and turned off fire at will, their ammo was already down to 9.

really? how stupid is that? Last I checked, muskets tend not to work so great past 70 yards, much less 400!

Do you have a screenshot. The only other time I've heard of this was when someone posted the picture of a few crazy snipers taking pot shots at an enemy 900 years away. Pretty sure its the same bug but I've never seen it before.

It happened to me several times. At first I looked for some hidden unit around (though it shouldn't have been invisible at firing distance - but then I still encounter invisible arty firing at me) - but none was there.

i read that post;its not like that. in his, they were hitting enemies at extreme distances. in mine, they just fired, then the rounds hit the ground about 75-ish yards away.

I have had the same thing several times too.

Worse yet, you can not turn them off. Even when you cease fire or give them a different target they will keep it up and with artillery they go back to the same target. ..

I don’t know what happened but it is annoying and leaves them without ammo when the second wave comes.

Withdraw the unit and then use it normally. If the unit doesn't respond just keep trying until it does.

i can fix it by turning off 'fire-at-will', but I then have to choose when to turn it back on. it sucks.
