Shogun sprites

It's been a long while since I posted or lurked around here. Most people are probably playing Medieval Total War, it might be harder for me to get a response. Sadly, I cannot not play my versions of Shogun Total War or Warlords edition. But I was wondering if anyone has or knows how to utilize those sprite graphic maps to make the various units into animated gifs.

I figured, since I can't play the game, I'd play with the components. Any ideas or hints would be appreciated.
