Hi,
Just a heads(o)up for any paradoxians here. The demo of HoI3 will be released today at approx 1800 CET. At august the 7th the entire game will be released and can be digitally downloaded at major sites like gamersgate or steam etc. Of course it can also be purchased normally in a box if you prefer that.
Cheers

For info, the demo lets you play the 1939 scenario (from september 1st) for 4 months, until January 1940, as either Germany, Poland, France or United Kingdom, with full access to all gameplay features. The demo will also contain the tutorial.
Downloading now. It looks awesome - the game and the demo.

I think I tried playing the HoI 1 or 2 demo and couldn't make heads or tails of it. I've wanted to get into HoI for a while now but have always been put off by it. I'll DL it sometime soon.

Then you'll probably want to read a bit in the manual: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=16772&d=1249302696
And be warned, HoI3 seems three times as complicated as HoI2. Good thing is you can let the AI do a bunch of things.

Excellent, been looking forward to this one. Thanks for the heads up Sjak!
Did anyone try it yet?

Indeed. While I am an relative good player of HoI 2, I was dazed by the complication of HoI3. In the end I just proceeded to steamroll Poland and quit. Didn't research or produce anything. The fact that the provinces names take a gigantic while to appear frustrates me very much.
I tried it as well, I also researched and produced something, or rather started doing that, but I didn't move a lot of units around, then went to bed.

I'm slowly learning HoI2, so I decided to give this one a try. So far it's been quite disappoiting.
The tutorials are completely useless. They don't explain you how to play at all. EU2 tutorials were good, since then they get worse with every Paradox game.
The 1939 scenario is either uncomplete, or laughable. AI Britain is pretty much useless (it never tries to help France or Poland). Germany is so ahistorically overpowered it kind of makes the whole demo boring (playing as Germany, you can just steamroll France and Poland at the same time, going through the Maginault Line without any problem). I know Germany has to have a 'gamey' advantage that it didn't have IRL (otherwise anyone playing France/UK could easily defeat Germany), but at the moment it's kind of 'meh'.
Germany also seems to have a huge technological advantage at the beginning (not sure about that though, I'll have to check) which is also silly.
Industry also either have to not be ready yet, or to be completely gamey. UK, France and Germany only have a few provinces with developed industries (the capital, and a few other big cities).
Italy, Finland and USSR don't do anything, which was to be expected, but still kinda disappointing.

HoI3 demo. I'm wondering whether the demo is like that because it's uncomplete, or if it's because they went for a more 'gamey' approach.
