sometimes i will have A.I. turn cycles last about a minute or 2. not too long though.

i have also noticed that the turn times take about twice as long if you are at war with the enemy. especially if they are a large nation (like the ottomans or russia).

I think it heavily depends on processor speed. On my laptop with the bare minimum processor, it takes 5 minutes per turn. On my desktop with a midrange processor, it takes about a minute. In both cases, there are rare times where it takes much longer. I think it is a more advanced AI system with the capability for "learning". It just seems unfinished like they ran out of time when the game came out.

The turns do not take that much time for me. What has started to take really long (since 1.3) is battle-loads... Sometimes 5 minutes and higher. I had no issues with battle loads pre-patch (1.3), running the game on the same video quality (highest).

I wish they were longer...

if that would mean the AI was actually better.

Dual core 2.5ghz 4gb ram on a laptop and it goes in about a minute. If that. Normally 30 seconds.

All i know is that the turns can be so long I actually forget things that I wanted to do on the next turn while I;m waiting.

I've had the AI take 30 minutes to finish a turn before, although I'm pretty sure that was a bug of some kind.

I read a book while waiting for the AI or waiting for battles. I think that says enough.

I'm running a quad core and 4gb ram. At the beginning of the game turns take 1.5-2 minutes.

I believe this has something to do with the number of factions the AI has to calculate and think for (although it really isn't doing that great a job at it) since ETW has the most number of factions in a TW game to date.

That said, once you have opened a massive can of whooparse and destroyed many factions throughout the game the turns actually speed up! By end game when I usually have about 10+ factions left, the game takes just 30 secs to process a turn.

You may want to turn off the option 'View AI moves' at the beginning of the game. It will really save A LOT of time.

yeah it takes about that long, 1-2 minutes, isn't too bad considering how ancient my computer is, I wouldn't really care if it took 5 minutes to do a turn if the AI worked properly!
