View Full Version : Interesting book about Hannibal
Hannibal's Dynasty: Power and politics in western mediterranean, 247-183BC by Dexter Hoyos.
It offers a quite refreshing vision on the causes of the 2nd punic war and the role of the barcid family during it.
Did anybody read this before?

I haven't read this one, but at the mo i'm trying to get my hands on another of his books, Unplanned Wars, about the first two punic wars. From the reviews I've read it sounds pretty in depth compared to some other lit on the topic. Looking forward to reading it, but I'm a bit worried it'll be a bit too heavy for an amateur historian like me :clown:
They are not heavy books, but can be cynical in places.
...and dexter is a nice guy...

what year was it published?
I would personally recommend "fall of carthage" by A. Goldsworthy. When it comes to roman warfare and even politics for that matter, this guy is def my goto guy
