ok so heres the situation:
there is a teacher at my little brothers middle school is who very racist. he regularly makes racist comments in class, or so my brother reports, and has even called students who beat him at basketball the n-word.
people have approached the administration about this teacher, and the school refuses to fire him. the reason? he is also the middle school judaics director.
what irks me the most are jews who get so offended if a non-jew makes a joke about jews, but yet has no problem making racist jokes and comments. i cant stand people like that.
i keep hearing more and more about this teacher and how he regularly makes racist jokes as well as discriminate against students who arent like him. he is ultra-orthodox, complete with blackhat and long sideburns, and often makes nasty comments to my brother about how he isnt "real jews," even though he is jewish, just not as religious as he is. my parents have complained, but to no avail.
i am seriously considering confronting him in person, though most people caution me against it.
so what do you guys think i should do? should i get the NAACP involved, maybe they can demand that the teacher be fired due to racist comments, or do they not take cases like this.
this whole situation makes me want to hit my head against the wall. hard.

Three things come to mind:
This is "in-group ghettoism" at its worst. The Ultra-Orthodox protecting the Ultra-Orthodox.
You can't face him, he's an adult, irrc you haven't even gone up to university. Rightly or wrongly, you won't be taken seriously.
If your parents can't deal with this, you will only fair worse.

Become ultra-orthodox and rebuild the temple quickly so Jesus can come. :clown:
Seriously though, I woudn't recommend confronting him yourself, that's just going to throw your little bro into the centre of it. If you think the stuff going on is serious, make sure you get to people well above the guy himself, if you can't you'll probably only be wasting your time.
You live in America right? Well lucky for you America is a democracy, get a petition going.

For the purposes of this post, I am assuming that this is a private Jewish school...
I would not get the NAACP involved, especially in the ATL. The escalation would probably be more trouble than what you have now. I would also not confront directly yet. My suggestion would be to contact the Anti-Defamation League and see if they can suggest a potential solution. It might go over better with the teacher considering the source (probably not if he is a ultra wacko). Still a better start than getting NAACP riled up.
If this is a public school, the teacher needs to be raked over the coals, so feel free to contact the NAACP and stand back to watch the fireworks.

yes, it is a private jewish school and he is an ultra-wacko.
KarlXII suggested i contact the school district.

I would openly confront him, but I'm older than you are (being in university), and I look scary when angry.
Anyways, tell your brother to take video clips (cell phone or something). Then use the evidence to do everything within your power to take the guy out. This sort of idiotic racial hatred should not be tolerated.
Confront him and start telling him Nazi-Jewish jokes. If he doesn't laugh then tell him he is Hitler's long lost descendant. xD From the way both behaved, they look practically alike in discriminating people.

If contacting the ADL and school district with a petition don't work, some video from his class posted on youtube might have a greater effect on school officials...

You're in a potential position of weakness as no school likes to have this said of them (especially private schools - they'll loose pupils). So the powers that be will likely hold a grudge against you and your family.
Your call, really. The noble thing to do is get stuck in but ypu might pay the price. I've learnt that all you end up doing is getting an ulcer and little if anything changes ("there's no room for bullying in the NHS - it's already full of it!")

video tape him calling black kids the n word and then show it to all your black friends and then find out where he goes after hours and tell your black friends where they can find him.
(BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY)

Kind of a difficult situation. No idea how it works in the USA but over here it's incredibly hard to get a teacher suspended or fired. I've only ever heard of one such situation where a teacher actually assaulted a pupil.
Also the fact the guy's employed by a private school will probably make it harder as well.

he wasnt calling black kids the n-word, he was calling white kids the n-word. just btw.
So no one else thinks that a petition is a good choice? It's quite a popular thing here for school kids to take out petitions about things they don't like at their schools and get them changed.

if the school doesnt listen to a dozen angry parents they wont listen to a dozen angry parents who sign a petition.

I vote one for youtube clip solution.
And possibly start a facebook group or something.
You have to do something that far or the school won't do anything about it.
Confronting him your self, or getting others to confront him is the worst solution. At best, he'll ignore you. At worst you could get sued if you end up going to far to the point of violence.
Anyway, hopefully everything works out for your brother

Ah. So we're talking a rather small school then. My school was fairly large at about 600 kids, so if there was something that people felt strongly about you could easily get over 1000 signatures from parents and students, which is quite hard for the school to ignore. But that's strange since I thought that most small schools were very caring places. This is beyond my experience so I can't really offer any advice.

Do what i do to people i don't like. i find it is both mature and self-satisfying.
Egg his house. Wait he is an ultra orthodox right? Throw non-kosher eggs.
:clown:
Oh and i would assume that a jewish school would not have very many students as they are a small percentage of americas population. And i believe you once said you live in Georgia and i bet there are not many Jewish people there either.
Hooahguy

no, the school has about 300 kids, but only a small percentage of them knows what this teacher does.

There's some newspapers who would love to have a story about a racist jewish teacher.
Come to think of it, this isn't right. Why is your brother at a private school? And not a normal one?

because the public schools here in GA are lousy as :daisy:.
students in public schools here score lower than average in math and reading.
plus my parents want a jewish education for me and my brothers.

Gentlemen,
I am somewhat disturbed by the closet anti-Semitism being revealed here. Do you really think it would be remotely acceptable, no matter his alleged transgression, to attack a Jewish person with Nazi jokes? It's never acceptable to fight racism with racism. For shame.
Please offer useful advice in this thread rather than doubtful revenge fantasies.
Thank you kindly.
Hooahguy, have you considered discussing this with your rabbi? I would assume he would have wise advice and a better understanding of how to address someone of the Ultra-Orthodox faith for good effect.

Aye, why would a Jewish person ever want to use Nazi jokes?
I still think my egg his house idea was good, but maybe the next best thing your parents could do is contact a lawyer. I remember hearing a story similar to this one, in which a student was then allowed to have a camera videotaping the class. If this scumbag has any racial remarks then you can bring them to your lawyer and he will make the administration feel the pain. The best part about going to private school (i do) is the fact that they do not want to lose your business, especially if there are only 300 students.

DeKalb. Back then, the one county keeping Georgia's ranking above Mississippi. ~D

Actually, I originally suggested that just for the lulz, but come to think of it, it would really demonstrate to the teacher why racist jokes are offensive (To some)

Or you would just look like an anti-semetic $%&
EDIT: Jolt i am not saying you are an anti-Semite. Merely, that that is how someone who did that would be perceived. And i doubt Hooahs little brothers situation would improve if everyone at his Jewish school heard him making Jewish jokes.

can a mod please close down this thread? ive gotte n the advice ive needed and i fear things will hget nasty.
I don't mind people calling me anti-semitic. I for one have no problem in making racist jokes, be that the typical Nazi-Jewish jokes, Brazillian jokes, black jokes, etc. Likewise, the Brazillians have quite the repertoire of Portuguese jokes, at which I don't find offensive at all. I take a joke for what it is, and I don't spin it to make the joke a part of the person personality as you apparently do. You would find me having Jewish (Actually, according to a recent study, 90% of the Portuguese population is of jewish descent, so bleh.), Brazillian and black people in my circle of friends, and they don't mind these jokes. It is a matter of mentalities, I think. We are above such petty offenses.
