I would love the opportunity to experience the poor AI, the flawed naval battles, the diplomatatic system. All the things everyone is complaining about. Oh for the chance to see it for myself. Unfortunately all i get is CTD. I can sometimes get a few turns out of it. Seems worse after 1.3 patch (or is this just me). My PC is more than capable of running the game and can play every other game i own without issue. My drivers are all up to date, i don't run any mods, I've uninstalled and reinstalled ETW and Steam.

Does anyone have any other ideas as to how i can get this game running?:help:

Well I think it is like a Total War game sorta like the other games with Total War in the title.

As for your technical problems if you want help you are going to have to give more information than that. Your system specks for example and any other programs you are running that may inter fear like a anti virus for example.

why do you have 2 accounts? I'm pretty sure thats against the rules.

anyway: It's a pretty good game. I like it alot, especially when using mods.

"why do i have two accounts"

Thanks for drawing my attention to that. I had one account from long ago. Got a new computer and forgot login details. Set up new account and then found old login details stored on an external hard drive. The login details were part of a password program called roboform which i then installed on new PC. Hence new account details and also old account details. Will remember to stick to one in future.

I so far played a little only as Russia and the game looks just ok. I'd give it 6/10. Battle AI is in most cases stupid, campaign map AI is outright ridiculous, but the graphics and the concept are good.

As Russia I've decided to concentrate on the Southern front, destroyed Crimean Khanate and took Moldavia from the Ottomans, at the same time I was attacked... not by Sweden, not by Prussia, not by Austria. I was attacked by Georgia (which in historical terms simply impossible) and Dagestan, which is possible. What is impossible though is how those miniature one-region nations are able to produce one unit after another while at this rate they should go bankrupt long time ago.

You said you have updated drivers, but this sounds somewhat like a driver problem.

I was having some stability problems and swapping out the nvidia driver seems to have helped. Their website did some sort of scan and recommended a driver for me that I think was actually an earlier version that the one I had. It was a lower number anyway.

Regarding video drivers, I have an nvidia 9800 GT, running XP Pro, with DirectX 9.0c, and the nvidia driver I use is 178.24 and never have any problems.

I have an Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT running under driver version 6.14.11.7824 dated 07/10/2008.

I had to retro-fit that driver as I found the latest version caused CTD's, there was a post about it somewhere at the time. I still get occassional CTD's but most of these can be tracked back to background programmes firing off scheduled downloads and things when I'm playing. Microsoft Update for example always causes ETW to CTD on my computer.

As does Spysweeper if I forget to switch it to gamer mode.
