I recently started a VH/M Romani campaign and noticed that this time around that my governors are not gaining the provincial governor ancillaries they usually receive. The only differences I've made in this campaign as opposed to others is I haven't captured Sardin yet and I'm using Allied govs in most of my conquered territories. I currently own all of Gaul (Aedui and Averni dead), all of Italy, all of Sicily, and Korsim and the year is 229 BC.
I was wondering what I would need to do to have the provicial governor ancillary added to my governors in the conquered areas.

I'd have to venture that if you're turning the gist of your conquests into allied settlements, they'd more than likely want client rulers since that government type caters to the recruitment, and governance by, of such characters.

Knock down those Allied governments and start instituting some good 'ol fashioned Romanization.

Also keep in mind if your FM's retinue is full (8 slots) then you can't get it! A bit annoying when you have say a really good Govenor in Syracuse but his idiot son suddenly becomes Provincial Govenor for Sicily when he comes of age. The only way round this is to have some FM's with small retinues who can move in get the governorship and then swap it to the guy you really want.

Some people feel that other traits confer more of a bonus so don't worry about it, I like the look of it but you do have to micromanage FM's a bit.

Thanks to both of you :). I didn't think that having an allied general made a difference in retinue. I hope that's all it is and I'll soon start switching settlements to #2 type and see if that makes a difference.
I also agree it's really just for flashiness, but it is a nice inclusion to the game that makes it worth playing.
