I finished my homework assignment at about 2:30 A.M. and decided to spend a half-hour searching the interwebs.

Anyways, the google page was celebrating another event, but this time a meteor shower. It provided me with a link to wikipedia: Parseids (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perseids)

So, invigorated with Tim Horton's coffee, I went outside to gaze at the heavens and saw what looked to be countless stars moving across the sky. The meteors were a beautiful sight, and I happened to see a few shooting ones fly by, too. Apparently, the shower peaks tonight.

Any of you guys see this? It's awesome.

I've been checking the sky from my tollbooth all night, but it seems as if the light pollution will carry the day. Ah well.

didnt see it. big lightning storm behind cloud cover, which made up for the meteor shower, for there truly isnt anything like seeing a lightning storm thats behind the clouds in the distance.

:2thumbsup:

My favourite is a lightning storm while the sun is setting. The oranges/yellows/purples mixed in with the lightning and ominous clouds is truly awesome.

my friend, who is a bit eccentric, thought it was UFOs attacking.

Tell him UFOs don't attack. It's the aliens flying UFOs who attack.

Trust me, I'm the Alien Terminator champion!

I was lucky enough to see one or two of the brighter ones from my porch in the city. Never realized untill last night just how many bats we have in this house...

I sat in my backyard last night for about three hours waiting for said meteors. I think I might've seen one in my peripheral vision at one point, but I guess there were too many trees in the area.
