View Full Version : Are the STW players, MTW players as well?
Are you all, STW super inconditional fans, also MTW players, or do you play ONLY STW cause it is, for you, the best ?
(IMHO, STW is better ... hehehe)

I play both MI and MTW. I still like MI much more...a lot more tidy than MTW.
I do like to mess a bit with MTW startpos sometimes though...

Most of the STW/WE/MI players also have MTW and do occasionally venture into the lands of Europe, as I do from time to time, but in my case I definately prefer the former.
The main reason for me is the speed factor, when I play MTW it feels as though its in "slo-mo". More recently, alot of the players who migrated to MTW have been making regular visits, which is nice to see.
And yes, STW/WE/MI is the best.

I also agree that the game's "speed" is important and that MTW is rather slow ... more strategy on map than real tactic .. ? or too complex ?
I admit that MTW is a bit slow but I never played STW so I can't really compare the two.

1st: I play both games
2nd: I first begin online with MTW then i tried MI; hehehe the slow thing is in fact a reality; i was dazzle how fast they run those Yary Cav.
3rd: It's more tidy to play STW/MI/WE and funnier.
4th: the last but not the least; 3rd time i buy the game (1st i got a bug on a file and i couldn't play it; 2nd my cd boke in half can you imagine???; and now waiting ansxiously for the WE to start playing.)
ah yes STW/MI/WE is better than MTW tough is other concept. The Sp campaigns are more interesting in Shogun than in Medieval. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I started off playing Shogun WE then when I was given MTW as a present I started playing that.
Yes I do still play both. Mostly weekends for Shogun WE.
I don't seem to have as much time to meet up with all the fellow Shogun players.
I shall have to change my ways

when MTW:VI and then RTW will be out, it will be interesting to see if there will be :
STW / STWMI / MTW / MTWVI / RTW players ... players who enjoy the 3 games and 2 expansions ... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
I think I will skip VI but get Rome:TW.
I will definately still play WE/MI, doubt if i will ever play MTW though.

Draksen:
BOTH
I prefer the historical context of STW/WE, which I have played it since it was first released. Lately been exploring MTW factions in SP.
I prefer MTW MP for three reasons:
MTW lobby is more active than STW
The little bar above hard grouped units in MTW. This little feature makes the diff for me
I am old, and slow, and therefore enjoy the slo-mo feel of MTW others have written of.

well i myself only play WE/MI for the main reason my graphics suck and i can't play MTW...
I would like to quote tera saying (i hope he doesn't mind this) "MTW is alot of fun and its a fun way to pass the time. But if i want a hardcore battle i go to WE/MI" ok those weren't his exact words but you get the picture. The community in STW is alot more closely nit and there is a greater... social ladder. The newbies don't come in (most of them don't) and yell, YOU ALL SUCK IM THE BEST i have also heard from some of the MTW/STW players that the WE/MI game is much more intense. They say that on MTW you have to spend 5 minutes travelling to your enemy and 7 mins fighting him. On WE/MI... you click 'begin battle' and you don't have to go 50 paces and you are in the heat of batte.
sorry for drawing this out but... i had to speak my peice http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Hi All,
Well in WE/MI its certainly a case of quality rather than quantity.
To emphasize this fact, we have been been honoured by the presence of RageDevil (4 nights running), RageKrast of late (to name but a few).
As the units are fewer than MTW, theres certainly more skill, tactics and movement involved rather than picking a strong faction.
Will there come a point in MTW that all will select the stronger factions? or will factions will be excluded? thus creating a similar scenario to the "no Ashi rule" here in WE/MI (btw I don't rate Ashi anyway).

well, i think mtw is ok .. the slower speed was enforced as the majority of the community preferred the speed of original STW (similar to MTW), to be honest the balance is not too bad, lancers are very strong but they have units that kill them .. plus there are 100 ppl online most evenings, it is upto us experienced players to improve the gameplay standard. I think the only downfall is that gunfights on MTW are so boring due to the high armour units being hardly effected by arrows .. we will see what happens when they shift pavs to late in VI
The ashis in MI were much stronger than anything we have in MTW, a high honour ashi will beat any other unit for the same price (monks, no dachi ys and all cav) that is why the "no ashi" rule was inforced and used by the community in general.
I just bought MI on ebay so hopefully i might pop in on Sun night .. probably to get my ass whooped http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
