Yep, you guessed it, and if you didn't you're too young to check the link.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1206279/Farm-girls-turn-calendar-pin-ups-risqu-charity-photo-shoot.html

So, this is what the girls at my local YFC in North Devon have been up to for Cancer Research.

To answer some questions that will now arise:

1. No, I was not involved.

2. Yes, I do know some of them.

3. No, I have not dated, etc., any of them; they are the same age as my sister.

4. No, my sister is not one of them.

I have mixed feelings about this, I'm not especially bothered, but I won't be buying the calendar either. It feels a bit weird because these are girls I went to school with.

So, mildly diverting human-interest piece here.

Please remain civil.

Nothing wrong with this at all. Money going for cancer research all done for a minimum of effort. Seems like a cost/profit win to me. Plus, its not like there's anything wrong with the human body.

Heh, things like these make me wonder on the morality of prostitution for charity. The ancients had the temple holy-prostitutes, so why not? I am not so sure Pamela will refuse whoring for PETA, nor Madonna for Africa :idea2::juggle2:. Not to mention, my morality has been skewed quite heftily since I became an atheist. Not that I was normal before. Machiavellian streak was long a part of me too...

Plus, its not like there's anything wrong with the human body.
Ugh, I do not support such statements. You know that is not true. It is not as simple as "just a human body" or "the most beautiful creation"

Our culture, and its stance on public nudity is too firmly rooted. Men, mainly the younger ones, are quite unrestrained and impetuous when they see females, and now imagine am unclothed one. The Bible, however flawed and at the same time useful, as I see it as, is usually correct in respects to heterosexual sexuality IMHO. If you are married, avoiding desire is a must. If not for God, then for your own sake, for the integrity of the family. Nudity leads to desire and desire leads to thoughts, as well as more desire and thoughts lead to actions. A simple Zoroastrian-esque tenet.

Not to mention the embarrassment from having others take note of your erection... Or a smaller member, if you are a male, and none-too-secure about it. Similar with mammary glands and females nevertheless. Yet another point - rape. Nudity is sure to provoke it. Desire can lead to many paths.

Bah, they're covering the best bits(unless the actual calendar shows more) it's not like you can't see what they're showing just walking down the street or in ads. I hope they far exceed their goal, good on em. :2thumbsup:

I think its the wrong way to go for a self-respecting charity.

And it seems that the majority of Daily Mail readers are a bunch of kids who can't wait to see any form of nudity judging from how the comments were rated.

It's tricky, isn't it? See, I know these calendars are going to make a lot of money for charity, and I'm happy about that. I also don't have a gripe about the girls deciding to do this, they're all old enough to decide whether or not to; and I don't find it shameful either.

They aren't remotely tasteless pictures.

And yet.... I'm going home next week and a part of me is going to want to punch every spotty kid that buys the things!

Depends on your target audience. You'll have youngsters buy these type of calendars and older people buy the clothed versions. Why cater only to one, which may not even have quite as much cash?

Them farmer girls are hot!

What's wrong with some pics? Let the girls have their fun. They're only young once. They're not doing this for charity, they are doing what young women enjoy doing. I say flaunt it if you've got it.

Why does female sexuality make some people so nervous? Half this thread makes me feel like I'm reading Wahabism.org. We're stumbling on all the things that are ascribed to teh evil Muslims: the urge to cover up women, the notion that uncovered female skin induces rape, the urge to shield 'our women' away from the prying eyes of other men.

What do you mean? Look at the 5th picture, biggest nipples you've ever seen! And my, what a great behind!!Yeah, I wouldn't mind milking those udders.

I also like that chick in picture one. The picture doesn't show any of it, but I bet she's got a nice fluffy underside. I don't mind some down.

Why cater only to one, which may not even have quite as much cash?
Because calendars do not sell well anyway. Pornography will bump the sales up. Although, given today's technology/social trends, the older individuals are the ones who still buy paper-and-print calendars, so I may say that the people who created this calendar failed to hire a demographics-marketing analyst.

And the younger ones can have their "pr0n" sites, so I am quite interested to see how this "scheme" works. On one hand, it is not just the lust that will sell the calendar, but also the charity appeal. On the other hand, the persons generally involved in charity and supporting such drives/institutions are not young males, and would not look kindly on such calendar. More likely they will support something else. And young males do not care as much, and have their porn sites, so I would most likely side with FactionHeir here, and say that the initiators of this photoshoot and the general action ran faulty analyses and projections.

Ah but you have to consider that these are poor old devonshire folks , Browns are cheaper than Fergies.
If them poor farmers can't afford clothes for their youg'uns then how can they afford a decent tractor, bloody hell if they had splashed out the extra cash the poor ladies would be left without even their wellies to wear

On our farm my sister got clothes, even if they were second hand.

I only got trousers, there's a picture, but I don't want to traumatise anyone.

That's right. She's the one on the top-left.

My favourite is miss March.

I've also decided I'm going to holiday in Devonshire. One of these peasant families has 'Wood' for a surname. They named their daughter 'Holly'. I must see this place.

You've got to give us guys who may have suspicious wives a little bit of forwarning before you unleash semi nude females upon us. I nearly died of embarassment when my wife asked "watcha lookin' at?" from afar. "Nothing Dear, nothing... just erm... chicks with cancer... erm... young females, in the almost nude, supporting some cause or another... I mean really... I don't get it.... why would anyone do that? ...what are you looking at?" :embarassed: :shame:

The Bible, however flawed and at the same time useful, as I see it as, is usually correct in respects to heterosexual sexuality IMHO. If you are married, avoiding desire is a must. How on earth does poor manners (inability to restrain oneself) turn into an argument against nakedness? A woman should be able to walk down the street in her natural state without men descending on her to rape her. It's the thing that separates us from most other animals, we're not slaves to our impulses. Besides the only reason a woman (or male for that matter) draws attention when walking naked in public is because it is unusual, if people were more exposed (and I do not like to use this word in this setting) to nudity from they were young this would not be an issue, and without any research to back it up it would also prevent many of the body-issues young people have today (especially young girls).

The thing people seem to be unable to understand is this (and I use nakedness in this simply as genitals being uncovered):

Sex => Nudity.

Notice which way the implication arrow goes. Nudity does not mean sex, or that you are in a sexual situation. (An example: Do you masturbate (every time) when you shower? )

A penis, or a vulva or the female breasts are nothing but skincells and other bits and pieces they are in themselves not offensive, the only reason people say they are is because society says so.

As for fear of an erection, it might be a problem when you are entering puberty, but other than that it depends on the situation, if the situation is non-sexual you don't get an erection no matter how many hot naked girls are around you (unless you induce it through your thoughts of course).

/end nudist rant.

(sorry for being serious in an otherwise lighthearted thread, but arguments against nudity such as the ones above just piss me off. Btw, if anybody is interested I have link to a video of a documentary from BBC where they experimented with how non-nudists reacted to being naked in a social setting, its quite revealing (pardon the pun), but because it contains (non-sexual) nudity I assume it is not ok to post a link here, so pm me if you are interested.)

I know, he just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back. If you feel I came down too hard on you Aemilius, I appologise, rest assured it is the argument you used I am pissed at not you, because you are not the first to present it, this just happened to be the day I snapped at it.

I agree with you PVC on the ostentation part, my beef is with the general attitude towards nakedness, especially in situations where it is natural ie swimming, sunbathing and so on.

Well, to be honest, I'm not really comfortable with publically naked breasts, but "locker room" nudity is something I am completely unfazed by. To be honest, in situations like that I'm more worried other people will be embarressed.
