My current wireless mouse just started acting up tonight (the right button is working only intermittently), and I'm thinking I should probably get a new mouse sooner rather than later. Do you guys have any particular recommendations?

The cheapest one I can find usually does the trick. It's a mouse what difference does it make.

response time.

DPI whatever that means. High seems to be better.

Eh, astronomical DPIs are mostly hype- you'll never use it anyhow.

I know it's not wireless, but I recently bought a SteelSeries Ikari (http://www.steelseries.com/us/products/mice/ikari_optical/information) mouse. The feet on it are buttery smooth and you can adjust DPI in increments of 1. Very nice.

For wireless, I know a lot of people are in love with this (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mice_pointers/mice/devices/130&cl=us,en) mouse from Logitech. Maybe someone who uses it will jump in and give a review.

What is with all the wireless hate?

Hate is a bit strong...

Personally I see wireless mice as a gimmick. Unless you feel the need to sit ten feet away from your PC then why bother with the extra hassle of batteries etc?

Mine comes with a charger so end of the night, I put it next to the computer and it recharges for the next day.

Also, I sit away from the computer and having cables sprawling across the room is annoying. It is not 10 ft away, but then again, it doesn't need to be 10 ft away, the average mouse cable is only 2foot max, just enough to have it plugged in the back of the computer, then up onto a desk working part.

Thanks for the input, fellas (and an especial thanks to Husar for the link to the other thread). I ended up purchasing another wireless mouse, but this time I went with a Logitech (I'd previously had a Microsoft mouse). Unlike my previous one, the Logitech has its own charger, which I find incredibly convenient. :2thumbsup:

Does it have to be wireless?
In my case, yes. My computer desk is configured in such a way that causes my tower to be too far away for a mouse cord to reach (it's on the left side of the desk, whereas I'm right-handed).

In addition to which, regular wired mice have given me nothing but trouble over the years. Even the newer optical wired mice (as opposed to the older ball versions) don't seem to work out for me; they just don't respond very well for whatever reason.

Gah! I see what you guys are referring to now regarding the lag/jerky issue with wireless mouses. I didn't have any problems with my last one, but for whatever reason I am with this new one. Not that it's constantly misbehaving (fortunately), but it's definitely acting up more than my old mouse ever did. :wall:

Is it the surface you are using? Use a cloth/fibre mousemat, premium ones for the best results.

Are you sure that you don't mean two metres?

Yes, I am sure.

mine is 2mYeah, 6.5ft for mine too. I can't think of any in recent memory being as short as two feet....

Due to a weird office setup, I still had to use an extension cable once for my mouse and keyboard. The actual PC tower was sort of around a corner from my actual desk... I pretty much had to get up to change CDs ect. Right now I have a setup similar to what Martok's sounds like- my PCs are on a seperate stand to the left of my desk, but 6+ft of cord is plenty for me in this situation.

Yes, I am sure.

That's strange, all of the mice I have ever had have been at least two metres. A mouse with a two foot cable would barely even reach my desk.
