Apparently ratings for movies has gotten even more lenient and was expecting only R rated material instead of x rated

Anyways the movie I'm talking about is Bruno, the rest I'll put in spoilers

So I figure I'll go see the movie Bruno. I know some of his humor is foul but I'm pretty open minded and figured it'd be safe considering it's a movie made for the public ........................... 10 minutes into the movie one way streets had become 2 lane highways, yep that's right 100 percent pure manly love. Now I can no longer live my life and truthfully say I have never seen gay porn.

It's just proof that corruption has gotten even worse in the US that someone took the bribe to give it an R rating so it could hit theaters.

If you saw the R version you saw the R version , if you saw the NC version you saw the NC version.

No its proof that different versions have been released and you saw a more edited version, perhaps you should have gone to the PG-13 to save your eyes from getting offended.

I'm in favor of the R rating being loosened up personally. Not to say I didn't look away a number of times during bruno. But I knew what to expect...

The R rating is pretty darn loose right now. The problem is filmmakers try to cram everything into that category because a NA-17 is the kiss of death.

I find the rating system annoying personally. The people in the board are just random people. They have to cut stuff to get pg-13 and cut more to get R.

There are alot of R movies which should be PG-13 too. I think the rating policy on drugs and language is to strict.

a completely inoffensive name

The rating system is a complete sham in the US. For more information watch the documentary This Film Is Not Yet Rated (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Film_Is_Not_Yet_Rated). As for the gay porn in Bruno, the only thing they showed uncensored (that I can recall) was the 30 seconds of meatspin in his pilot that he made.

Oh, and for the OP statement about corruption. The reason R movie like Bruno get by on R and not NC-17 (X) is not because of a bribe but is because the morality police AKA the MPAA raters will downgrade a movie if they feel the director/producer whatever has attempted at removing as much dirty content as possible. So what Bruno probably did was leave everything uncensored and had multiple close ups of penis etc.. and when it got slapped with NC-17 all he had to do was get rid of the more extreme scenes put black bars on most other scenes and the raters downgraded it because they appreciated the effort. This is why you still got to see his swinging penis for 30 seconds. It is from what I hear a common tactic for movies that know they are controversial.

Members should note that this site has a PG-13 rating, and therefore some of the more lurid metaphors and descriptions in this thread have been censored edited.

Are you trying to make me write filthy stuff, or what? :inquisitive:

I think Bruno brought out Banquo's Ghost' wilder side.

Anyway, as for the OP, the film was about Bruno, what did you expect? Light hearted chuckle from a presenter dressed in pink with a slight innuendo here and there?

The most stupid thing when it comes to film ratings is swearing. Please, we have heard and used these words since we were 5 years old (but I don't now ), nobody cares.
