View Full Version : Fox News Versus Amsterdam
This one's worth a giggle for those who love to see unbridled opinion walk blindly into basic facts:

Why let pesky things like "facts" and "reality" get in the way of your rant against your ideological foes?
The most disturbing aspect is that this kind of stupidity is rampant on Faux, and that so many people watch it and actually believe what they see.
If that keeps them there in their trailers instead of here than I am all fine with them believing O'reilly.
It's not complete utter nonsense what he says though, some coffeeshops are indeed being closed because they are too close at schools, and what but organized crime or at least shady people would you find in the Red Light Zone, of course there is organized crime in the red-lights and that is being delt with. Some windows will be closed.

I don't usually make a post just to say "LOL", so I've typed this entire sentence to avoid looking spammish; but:

I know, that one bothered me the most. Although the rest of O'Reilly was quite a rant, this was pure ignorance of the most basic scientific facts. That is what always inflames me. I can debate with anyone and remain calm no matter what, but when I stumble upon such ignorance I begin to simmer.
O'Reilly probably failed his Stats course in college. I remember him once agreeing that there is "220 lesbian gangs rampaging in DC, all wielding pink revolvers (:laugh4:) " whereas the total number of gangs in all of Washington D.C. was around that number.

C'mon now, fair and balanced right? Bill's interviewee only cited 150 DC Lesbian Gangs. :laugh4:
I can vouch for everything said in that video. I've been to Amsterdam twice and have agree the city does a lot to offer minus the de facto legalized cannabis and sex. It truly is a gorgeous city (I'd highly recommend you rent a bike and ride over any of the fantastic trails they have there).
O'Reiley is a moron and it that really doesn't bother me, but what does bother me is people tune in and actually take what that is idiot is saying as fact.

Always like reading the responses of people that actually visited the place, if you are expecting vice city you may be at risk of being cultured. If you are looking for vice you will find it, but if you aren't you won't even notice it's there. It's too touristy imho but it's a great city, it's pretty and it's fun.

Actually, I think if you listen you'll hear that he actually means a lower base, and therefore the numbers are less reliable. So it just sounds dodgy. The art of bad reporting is telling the truth with incompetance, not outright lieing, that can get you arrested.

He's trying to prove us wrong, so he will just have to work with our base, and apply it on a way that makes sense. Who knows, maybe we should play his game and sue him, this going to cost us a lot of tourism because who would even dream of comming here after accusations such baseless. Doesn't really matter anyway because we play dirty and this is going to be fun, O'reilly is going to get a valid reason for disliking us he better quit while he can :laugh4:

I always marvel at the fact people pay him any attention...
I mean, I look at him from time to time just to have a laugh, but it's scary people take him seriosly.
I seriously want to do the blonde though
oh god oh lord oh jezus
Yes we can!
If you mean Gretchen, she finally convinced me that the USA must be a time bubble where time stood still for a while since that name was probably common here around WW1 and 2. :laugh4:

In my opinion, it best to mix vice and culture!
See the Anne Frank House, smoke a joint, see another museum, visit the red light district, take a bike ride.. etc

Can't wait to visit Amsterdam next summer, after my brother and his wife settle in for awhile. We decided we'd bring our daughters along, if we want vice as Fragony said, we can find it, but thats pretty much true of anywhere you go. I was surprised at the Cauldron of vice the Mormons were trying to keep a lid on in SLC, but it was apparent, and ugly. Amsterdam doesn't hold back it's punches and in a way, it makes it seem oh so more respectable.

I have been to Amsterdam, contrary to some news-people...
I must say... Are there things that would make a backwater-american frown? Indeed there is!
But you would have to be looking for it... Same goes for the town/village where I live now...
Some people are here walking in the alps, having a spa, going to bed early... And some are here doing cocaine and ******* whores...
I am sorry for the stars * this is after all a forum with american standars... You all, of couse, still got that I meant "making love".
Back on track... Most places that tourists visits have this in common, you get what you are looking for!
I have been to, let's see.. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 arabic/muslim countries...
I have never been denied the access to alcohol or a prostitute...
Does this mean all arabs/muslim girls are prostitutes and addicted to alcohol?
Again, time to enter the real world.

I do believe that project was cut due to insufficient government funding some time ago....

This!
If you go to the NL, smoke the weed, THEN go and look at all the beautiful and historic things!
I may like to smoke pot, but if you go to a country with such a rich cultural history as the Netherlands and you dont take that in then someone should smack the crap out of you.
If you go just for the weed then you are not seeing the forest for the trees. (trees! get it?)
This is a great impression of what you are going to find. The cesspool of anarchy and corruption.

Don't be fooled by the video , fragony is trying to pull a fast one.
That video is not amsterdam , it isn't even holland , the proof is irrefutable ...there is no muslim horde taking over the place in that video.
