Best way to siege Alexandreia?

I laid siege to the city and camped on the west wall. Then a relieving army attacked from south. I went to field and as soon as I started battle game froze. I suspect it's because there's no room to deploy for the sallying army. Half of map is covered with water to the east, south-east and north-east. The square battle zone includes big chunk of water. Well, the other option is the east wall of course but has anyone done a personal mod project for Alexandria? If not want to? I don't have knowledge of modding RTW yet (too eager to play EB) but I've noticed the map is in tga format. I can place some pixels here and there on Photoshop. I was hoping to get someone to tell me what to do :p

The tempoary fix for this is still in the official fixes, isn't it?

I have that fixes and still have the same issue when i put siege to Alexandreia and Ptolies attack me with another army.

auto_win is what i do in that case, since auto-resolve seems to kill too many of my Carthaginians.
