Yes. A Braun 815. Definite cheapling yet able enough to be a savior from screwing my face every 3 days by having to scrape it with a razor blade. I kan haz moar sexiness with a trimmed layer of beard as well.

I have a scar on the outer end of my right eyebrow, thanks to a fully-locked-and-loaded swing crash when I was six, also a scar to the right of my lips from the same hit as well.

Me I use an old-fashioned handheld. Real men such as myself shave wet. Then I powder my nose and go to my beautician to have my eyebrows done.

No. How low/wide do you go? I dont manscape my chest nor stomach but I do trim my boys for the simple fact it makes my stuff look bigger and sometimes that little pick-me-up is all I need to get me through the day.

Everything is a 2 on the trimmer. Armpits, chest, stomach, nether region. Thankfully I do not have any hair on my back.

I found that the chest and stomach were the most painful spots to get hair ripped out of, I can deal with it on my knees and elbows much more easily. The other painful spots are the tops of my fingers and tops of my toes and feet, but that's usually more mat burn than anything. Now that I do it, I like how it feels now. Less tangly and cleaner. I'd say it looks better too but I'm just damn sexy to begin with.

Use an electric for the face, come wintertime a normal razor just hurts when the skin gets dry, and I don't really need a close shave anyway.

I manscape armpits, I'll trim them down somewhat every couple of weeks. Makes it easier when applying stick deodorant and feels better. A little trim down south as well, don't want to look like a hippie. :hippie:

My experiences with razor blades aren't too delightful, either; but that's why I shave like two times a week. Facial hair does not hurt. And my armpits stay untrimmed.

I shave with one of them fancy titanium (http://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/quattro-titanium_1_17548.html)ones. Thats it. Nothing else.

I enjoy the fact that it says you get the 4 pack of replacement razors, giving you like 1.25 AUD a week for it. (cause its like 5 for a 4 pack, so $5 a month)

One thing gave me 5 months. Switch to a new one last weekend, and it feels gooood.

I never felt like an electric shaver cut close enough. I like the Gillette Mach 3, but the dang replacement blades are outrageously expensive. Good thing I don't need the shaving cream.

Well for one, you could probably light a match on my face. And two, the triple bladed Mach 3 is such a great design that I can dry shave with it if I have to. At $24 for a package of eight it ought to.

I used to shave with a Mach 3 razor in the shower. It made for long showers, but it was the best time by far for the shave because of warm water softening up my face whiskers making it easier on the overall shave, and very easy clean-up. The three problems I had were 1. I couldn't find a can of shaving cream that wouldn't rust all over the @#$(* place, 2. couldn't find any decent cheap mirrors that wouldn't eventually get gunked up or last long, and 3. razor blades did NOT last long for me, if I used them more than a week or so it'd end up destroying my face completely, so they'd only last maybe 5 days at best, not cheap.

I've used a Norelco 9190XL for the past ... 4 years I think now. I'd agree with Hosa, the shave isn't nearly as good as a safety razor, but it's faster and far cheaper in the long run. Since I hate facial hair, it's an every-morning deal, and I don't have to worry about keeping a beard or 'stache cleaned and trimmed up.

Something I've been considering for a long time, but don't want to spend the money or risk totally wrecking my face, is getting and old-fashioned straight razor. I hear you absolutely cannot beat those with a stick for closeness of shave, BUT it takes a lot of skill and practice before you get good with them, and it's NOT something you'll want to rush doing. :sweatdrop:

I have a generic set of clippers from Target that I use on the 'pits, chest, stomach, and nether region. Usually once every 3 weeks is enough. I may end up needing to shave my chest and stomach in the future, if that happens I'd end up going back to the Mach3 for the wet work. If it weren't so damn expensive, I'd honestly probably just get all that hair permanently removed. /shrug

Speaking as a hard-core shower shaver:

You don't use shaving cream in the shower; instead, you use either shaving soap or a high-quality normal soap (I shave using this stuff (http://usa.loccitane.com/FO/Catalog/Product.aspx?prod=25SA500BL) and it works perfectly)
You get a hand-held glass mirror (preferably with a hook so you can hang it from the curtain rod) and clean it once a month with glass cleaner
You buy your razor blades in bulk packs (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260470065890)

This should address all of your problems ...

Been there, done most of that. You should get a kick out of this, what I initially tried doing was 'waterproofing' the cans of shaving cream with a single pass of clear acrylic spray paint. It worked fine, except down inside underneath the plastic nozzle. That rusted like hell and got rust all over my shower. I had two crappy hanging mirrors that we got from Bed Bath and Beyond, one didn't survive the trip south from the wall, and both had lots of gunk on them even with reasonably regular cleaning. I was thinking about RainXing them because they fogged up like crazy, but that's almost too much effort. I also bought a metric poopton of blades from Sam's Club when I was on this kick, it wasn't cheap but it did save us a boatload.

If anything I'd probably like to try getting an old fashioned straight razor as I mentioned. That seems pretty damn cool and manly, plus it's supposed to be the best by far and the modern blades rarely ever needs sharpening. The only thing that does worry me slightly is maintenance of the blade. I never was very good at sharpening knives as a boy scout, never got the hang of it. If I'm going to spend the big bucks on a nice straight razor, I damn well want to know how to take care of it first.

The problems are twofold; 1. cost, which initially is going to be awful, and the biggest problem by far is 2. time.

In regards to cost, my current electric razor cost about $100 new, and new blades are about $35-40 every 6 months. A really nice old razor set can cost upwards of $300 or more, or as little as $100 depending on what you want. The only real expense beyond that is shaving cream or powder mixture, and I have no idea what that runs or how long it lasts but it can't be bad.

The biggest problem that I can see is time. It takes me about 3-4 minutes to get a complete shave with my electric razor and I'm done. From turning it on to finishing with the skin lotion when I'm done, 4 minutes tops. Even shaving in the shower added 5-10 minutes of time because rushing always, always == destroyed, bloody face. Shaving outside of the shower was a 15+ minute affair. I could see doing it maybe on the weekends to kinda treat myself when I'm not rushed, but probably not on a permanent basis.

Oh well. I might still ask for one for Xmas.

Ignoring the fixed cost of the razor, you're spending $37.5 (I'm averaging) per six months, or roughly $1.44 per week. I use one disposable razor blade per week, averaging $1 per week, and my fixed costs are zero, since the handle thingy was bought for me by a girlfriend about fifteen years ago. It's not like they wear out.

A straight razor is certainly an option.

I can't do an electric razor because of a cruel genetic joke; my father had a thick, curly beard, while my mother had soft, tender white-girl skin. So I got her skin and his beard. It's like growing barbed wire over rice paper. I've never met the electric that could handle my hair/skin combo. So it's shave with a razor in the shower or grow a tangled afro on my face.

Also, try the soap I linked to if/when you shave in the shower again. It's great stuff, a single bar will last you about six months, and it kicks shaving cream's booty.

Shick razor for the face and neck. Electric trimmer for the task of manscaping. Not a fan of hair on the shoulders, chest, stomach, cobblers, etc. Also, I like my women to be... uh... shaven, so I assume they'd appreciate reciprocal behaviour in the hair department. :wink2:
