I had the idea to try to play a little more historical then usual and give except for a set area/occassional island city like Palma give all the land I conquer as a Roman to the Senate and People of Rome instead of turning it into my own private Kingdom, and let magistrates from Rome set out to govern their province, appointed by the Senate and Popular Assembly instead of me.

Unfortunately the Senate doesn't accept any of the land I conquer as gift, and won't accept it in trade either, I like the game but I did the conquer everything for just my family and cruelly supress the Republic, I would like to try something new.

Does anyone else have the same difficulty?

occasionally the RTW a.i. is retarded (usually its just semi-retarded) and will think that you giving them 20 provinces and ou keeping one is fishy, so they reject it.

are you offering all the provinces at once? if you just do one at a time it will probably be better.

Also: I reccomend that instead of holding 1 city, you should set your eye on un-conquered territory somewhere far from rome (spain, britain, germania, egypt) and just conquer the whole region, then think of yourself as governor.

I like your RPing ideas.

The AI in Rome Total War regarding the diplomacy areas is attrocious, I wouldn't really be worried, the Senate...Well they are just a bunch of pests....Piss them off and declare war on them then kick their arses :2thumbsup:

Did that way too many times

And thank you Prussian Wolf I will try that, perhaps after taking over Sicily every land I conquer I turn over one by one maybe that will work?

yeah, offering them everything at once they will say no; this is supposed to represent them being wary of you getting them to send troops into the new territory, where you can ambush or surround them.

EDIT: love your sig!

Is EBII out yet? EB on medieval's engine. Factions are much more likely to accept decent gifts so this could work well. nice idea!

Just put a cherry on top, some denarii’s to sweeten the deal.
5000 usually does the trick.

Remember to use the give action.
It'll work.
