I'm very new to modding, so I'm wondering if changes to unit stats don't affect the units in my save games (it seems like they dont). What i'm trying to do is take some armor off all of Egypt's units, since they are currently in control of half the world and spamming stacks of 28-defense phalangites at me, but even though i've changed the text file the in-game stats page isn't reflecting those changes.
I'm guessing your running the game with the trivial script?
You need to edit the unit file in the "sp game edu backup" folder as this is the one the trivial script uses to copy over the edu in the main data folder when you pick the single player option (hence why your changes are not showing).

I guess I am running that script, but i wouldn't know :P
I tried your suggestion and modified the backup file, but the changes still won't stick. As of now i've identified 3 different unit files: one in /EB/Data, one in /EB/EB/Data, and one in /EB/EB/sp game edu backup. I've copied and pasted the modified unit file to all three locations, but the units in-game still have the same stats as vanilla EB :|

Which means you'll have to reinstall EB 1.2.
Delete the EB folder inside your EB folder and reinstall EB1.2 in the same folder as where you've installed EB 1.1 (the target line will end in Rome - Total War, unless you've renamed it).
About the trivial script. Do you start EB with a short cut, or with the little menu that says single player, multiplayer and options.

Reinstalling fixed it. I think what i did originally was install 1.2 in 1.1's folder, rather than into RTW's main folder. Anyway, the stat changes are in effect, and hopefully the Ptolemaic Yellow Death will be avoided.
Thanks for all the help :)
