The Gameroom moderator Super Friends team has recently decided on a couple of changes that would have possibly passed you by if we did not draw your attention to it.

First, we are clarifying that there is to be no host bashing of any kind in their games. If you have an issue with how a particular game host is running things, please either send them or one of the moderators a PM to discuss it. Under no circumstances are you to criticize them in the thread, as nobody deserves that treatment. As all three of the moderators personally find this practice reprehensible, infraction points will be handed out in the future if we see this.
Secondly, by popular demand, the player limit for Small games has been increased from 15 to 17. Enjoy. (Note: You are under no obligation to set up games requiring the full 17 players.)These changes will be edited into the official rules thread (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=110578). If you haven't read this thread in the past, now would be a good time to familiarize yourself with it as well.

As always, let us know if you have any questions and keep having a great time in the Gameroom!

:2thumbsup:

Good news on both accounts.

I agree, host-bashing is really pretty unfair, especially considering the hosts create and run the game out of their own personal time, just to have fun. Nothing wrong with a little constructive criticism or suggestions, but public host-bashing is just low and selfish.

Indeed. While I have not witnessed any host bashing, it is extremely disrespectful to insult anyone who takes a lot of their own free time to make a game for everyone else to have fun in.

GeneralHankerchief, this new rules game of yours is very very bad, I don't like it, I am never going to play any of your new rule games gain!

I was kidding/joking, don't hurt me, I love you GH. *big puppy eyes*

I dare someone to bash Pirate Ship Mafia.

But seriously, I'm really glad that the Mods have put up a zero-tolerance rule for host-bashing. While most of us here are already kind enough not to say anything bad (which really sets the .org apart from other sites) I still see absolutely nothing wrong with a rule in place such as that one. Cheers to the mod team!

Well, I normally bash my own game. Is that allowed? :clown:
Good rule mod team :2thumbsup:

Yes! Whoot! I'd still rather small games were from 10-20 players, but hey, progress is progress :laugh4::2thumbsup:

Also, I'm glad that no host bashing is in effect - sorry to any that I have bashed if I haven't apologized at this point.

*** stands up with a "eureka" expression on his face, waving around important looking documents ***

Aha!

As the old Romans tended to say: 'interpretatio cessat in claris'.

Well, let me tell you that your rule is not very clear!

*** tries to look even more important ***

We cannot criticize the host in "the thread".

*** shakes his head in faked disbelief and continues slightly sarcastic ***

Which thread is that famous "the thread"? Is it this thread? Can I not critize a host in this very thread? That would not be logical, would it?

Is it the "Hail New Members IV" thread? The "Talk your own language thread"?

Which thread is "the" thread?

*** facial expression turns to hautain and tone starts to be belittling ***

Or did you mean the so-called "official rules thread" you are talking about? May I point out (*** looks annoyed and rolls eyes ***) that there is no thread in the Gameroom with the title "official rules thread"? There is a "READ THIS BEFORE PLAYING OR HOSTING MAFIA GAMES" thread, which has the nature of an official rules thread, but is not titled as such.

But I digress.

*** facial expression becomes that of a primary school teacher explaining something for the third time ***

Because this new rule is clearly unclear, we have to find the so-called ratio legis; or, to put it in the language of unwashed and uncivilised barbarians, the spirit of the law.

It is my, highly valued and infallible, if I may say so myself, opinion that our dear moderator, GeneralHankerchief, is talking about the game thread itself in which the game of the host you are not supposed to criticize, is being hosted.

The rule should therefore read: "you cannot criticize a host about his game in the thread which contains said game that he is hosting".

*** looks a bit disappointed at the clear lack of legislative experience displayed ***

Of course, a contrario, this means that you can happily criticize a host in any other thread. How unfortunate this new rule has been formulated. O tempora! O mores! These youngsters nowadays!

It is, for example, due to this sloppy legislation, safe to say in this thread, that the Pirate ship game GH is about to host looks like the most boring game that is ever going to be hosted in the Gameroom. A pirate game without Octosquids, what was he thinking? Of course, the only way to have me join thát, was by forcing me. How rude! "An offer I couldn't refuse," he said. My lawn isn't mowed. My vacation hasn't been extended with three months! Bah!

*** face turns to a careful and slightly hypocritical expression ***

Of course this is just an example of an allowed statement, for pure academic purposes and does not imply any criticism on the Pirate ship game

*** looks very innocent ***

Thank you for your attention.

Yours sincerely,

Your friendly neighbourhood nitpicker.

Good rule. Hosts usually put alot of effort in their game and are spending a lot of free time for the amusement of their fellow Orgah's. It's a matter of decency and good manners to respect the host and his work at all times. Even when a host abandons his game, he should not be attacked in the thread, because that usually only happens because of unexpected RL issues.

The actual rule as stated in the READ THIS BEFORE PLAYING OR HOSTING MAFIA GAMES thread, is:

6. Courtesy to the host. These people invest their time and energies in creating games for your amusement, and are not monetarily compensated at all for their efforts. As such, making disparaging comments towards them is greatly frowned upon. There are far more constructive ways to resolve any issue that may arise.
When it comes to interpretation of this rule - The Gameroom moderators are judges, jury and executioners.

I think Judge Dredd will be your new persona now in my .org mafia, Sigurd, for that comment.

Thank you for that analysis Andres, now I shall be off to GH's profile page to bash his silly little pirate game there. :clown:

ARE YOU MODS AWARE THAT IN THE PSYCHO II MAFIA, THEY DID THIS TO THE HOST???

They grabbed whatever they could find, and began beating the living (or in this case, dead) daylights out of the lifeless corpse of Askthepizzaguy. They tore the head off of his body, and kicked it down the hallway like a soccer ball. They rode his torso all around the mess hall like a pony. They beat each other playfully with his arms and legs, and when they were all done having fun with these toys, they set Askthepizzaguy's body ablaze, and made sure, absolutely sure, that the body would never come back to life. And when that was done, they unleashed their respective willies and let loose their bladders, and put out the flames. They congratulated each other on their brilliance, those who were coherent enough to understand, anyway. Some simply nodded and made gurgling noises.

I DEMAND THEY ALL GET BANNED IMMEDIATELY!!! :stare: SO reported. :snobby:

The most horrible example of host bashing ever... why me? Why me? Why? Why I tells ya??? :bigcry:
