View Full Version : Relocation a faction?

Hello everyone,

First of all, let me just start with saying thank you for a great mod. I've been using it for a long time and couldn't possibly be more impressed.

But now as I've played with more or less every faction, I've gotten a bit bored. So, for that reason I'm interested in trying a very different type of campaign. One I often used in MTW:2 when I was dissatisfied or bored with a factions starting location: I want to relocate Aedui to Galatia! I tried doing a search but couldn't come up with an answer for how to go about doing this, but I'd like to make Galatia into a homeland province for Aedui/Arverni, capable of recruiting everything they can in their respective starting capitols. And maybe do the same thing with a few provinces in the immidiate vicinity of Galatia. I know it's hardly realistic from a historical point of view, but that's fine. I just want a different type of challenge.

If this cant be done easily, maybe there's a different solution for creating what I want - a horde of terrifying barbarians right in the middle of this clever-clever part of the world. The victory conditions can remain the same, I just want to try fighting some greeks and baktrians with a gaul faction.

Again, thanks. :2thumbsup:

Try to place Casse rather than Aedui or Arverni to the Galatia, because they have only one city.

Open the file ???\EB\Data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign descr_strat.txt (do not forget about making a reserve copie of thise file). So open descr_strat.txt with the help of Word. Then using the function "find" find Galatia and cut it to the casse settelment, and Casse original settlement cut to the place of Galatia. Then change starting coordinates of Galatians to the Casse's and vica verca. It should work. I think.

I done the same thing in Vanilla when placed Germans to the Athens.

PS

Do not forget to delete boat from the txt file, because you will have no opportunity to disband it from the campaign map, if you make these changes (port needed), and the boat eats ~700 mnai each turn.

A lot of people often move Epireos to Pergamon and Epireos to Cyrene.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I managed to add Galatia to the starting cities of Aedui without any problems, (I'd rather not move Casse, Aedui have more interesting units.) but I'm having trouble converting it to a homeland province and all the building/training benefits that offers. Same goes for some the nearby provinces I had in mind, like Kappadocia, Bithynia and Phrygia. Would greatly appreciate any help anyone can offer for this problem.

Sometimes I want to do this too.
Some factions are fun but they're surrounded by Eleutheroi and there's no fun fighting them.
However, move Sweboz or Saba to, say, Sicily is too weird. I wish we could have Syracuse, personally I rather enjoy playing as a small faction struggling for survive among surrounding super powers.:juggle2:

i suggest a semi migration campaign...... just don't leave your original position, just teleport an army and start conquering them....... Oh yeah... roleplay that your original faction is "Ally".... I once do that on KH as Bosophoran kingdom....

The problem with using the original Celtic factions as Galatians is that they don't get the full Galatian roster. They get a very limited factional roster...

I believe that Pontus and the Arche get the full Galatians.

This can be relatively easily modified, though.

The Galatians rebelled to the Arverni in my Romani campaign, but got their ass kicked by the AS soon after.

Quite similar in my Aedui campaign. Galatia rebelled to the **** Arverni.
