View Full Version : Driving me crazy!
I know that this is nt in the correct place but access is denied to me in the Hard and Software forum. The problem is Starforce, I am sure many of you have heard of it. It gained access to my computer when I attempted to install a game which to add insult to injury was not compatible with vista. I have to close two pop up things everytime I load my computer which look like this:

I have looked on google how to remove starforce which is hidden (Link (http://www.whoismadhur.com/2006/04/06/starforce-removal/)) and I uninstalled Starforce in Device Manager but it still pops up when I turn my computer on, how do I get rid of it?

I'm guessing access to Hardware forum is for members only.
I can't help you with the problem, but I'll go post a link there and see if anyone could help you.
EDIT: And welcome to the Org:2thumbsup:
Never had to remove Starforce but a quick Google search leads me to this (http://www.gamehourz.com/steps-removing-StarForce-drivers-ftopict136689.html). I'm not sure if it works, might want to wait for someone from the H&S forum to add something.
Thanks Beefy!
Thanks for that link Ichigo, part one I had already done, I have now done part two but part three has stumped me. The reg editing. Not sure if this is all that should come up in it...

Yes but be very careful: if possible verify what each entry is supposed to do before you remove it from the registry. I'd suggest creating a System Restore point before proceeding to the registry steps -- better a tainted registry than a non-functional one, eh?

The registry is a ‘hierarchical tree structure’ much like your files on disk (and you navigate it similarly). You will probably eat the words "is this all" once you delve into it a little deeper: the registry is probably the single most scary thing about Windows.
You can probably simplify your job though by using a built-in search function under edit or something.
Oh I see, i'll have a look at that and get back to you Tellos.

Is that like malware or something? Have you tried malwarebytes or Ccleaner? I think the C stands for Crap but they wanted to be nice so they renamed it to just Ccleaner.

It's software copy protection for some PC games. Here's the Wiki. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StarForce#Removal_of_StarForce_drivers)
We talked about this long time ago in The Arena and I think it was not possible to talk about removal of that annoyance. But that happened one year ago if I recall correctly and may be wrong.
I was wrong, it happened 14 months ago. Here, check by yourself:
