View Full Version : KOTOR II Almost Done!
This is exciting news (http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/10/after-four-years-volunteers-restore-missing-kotor-ii-data.ars). Now if only I could remember where I put the original discs ...
While some might dismiss this as little more than a fan project, the Restored Content Mod deserves attention and praise for the sheer volume of content that the volunteer team has managed to return to the game. The full list is impressive: a total of 93 separate events and bugs have been reincluded or fixed. The scale of these events varies, ranging from expanding character dialogue and development to restoring missing boss battles to allowing players to determine the final fate of Malachor V.
Well this is nice.
This doesn't sound like that team gizka project though....I had no idea another one like it was on.
I've been playing the beta of this since it was released on the 23rd, and i have to say Stoney (the mod leader) and his team are geniuses. He's already released 2 patches since then that have fixed a handful of bugs as well as further improving the restored content. Amazing stuff.

There's some kind of history or something between these guys and the Gizka guys, as in the usual 'net pissing contest nonsense.. Far as I'm concerned if either of them finishes the fans win, and the drama is just fluff. :2thumbsup:

No doubt. There's been talk of a content restoration mod for over four years, its good someone finally got the will to get things done.

Crap. Now I have to buy a PC version of KOTOR 2, get my hopes up and have them crushed again when it doesn't live up to my unreasonably high expectations.
Edit: That drama is hilarious. Nice to see someone has finally taken the initiative to finish this, since Team Gizka doesn't seem to have any plans to.

Also, for anyone interested, theres a really great AAR of the game here (http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/KOTOR%202/) that does a great job of filling in what some of the missing content was. It also has some really neat insight on the games story as a whole and is pretty funny.

Woah, hey, only the PC version was missing content, right?

Um, no. If the devs had been given time and budget to finish the game, he extra content would have been on console and PC. That said, the restored content will 99.999999999% probably only be for PC.

Wow, so the Xbox version was missing content this whole time? Never noticed....
I don't think I can justify "obtaining" this game for the PC and then replaying it for the 5th time just because of some missing side quest stuff and....
Wait a second, is that why I could never get Atton to become a Jedi even though the guide said I could? That was the missing content?
Read The Friendly Manual (or Article, in this case). The additions, fixes and changes are discussed. There's even a video.

Hmmm...it's tempting.
Ooh - time to finally play KOTOR II! I got the game a year ago, but never bothered playing because of all the missing stuff.
I may actually get Kotor II now. I always loved the orginal, but steered clear of the sequel due to the rushed production.
Don't forget to patch your game before you install the mod, installing a game with 4 discs, twice is not my idea of fun :wall:

Don't think so - I got Atton to be a Jedi playing the game that comes out of the box (thanks to a reputation guide). I think the missing content largely related to right at the end of the game.
