View Full Version : Where have all the agents gone?

I started a post-1.5 GB GC, converted Oxford to a school on turn 2, added a school in New England around turn 18, and have recently upgraded Cambridge.
It's now turn 24 and I've yet to see any new agents pop up.
What gives?
EDIT: For comparison, my last 1.4 GC with two schools and a coaching inn spawned 6 agents by turn 28.

It is too soon for me to tell. I am also playing as GB in the first 1.5 start up. I have one school and building a second. My observatories are not finished yet.
I did notice in 1.4 that I had a harder time getting Gentlemen and never had more than 11 despite having many schools and countless observatories.
I played a few years as France. Did not upgrade any observatory buildings and did not build any additional schools (to the one that's next to Paris). I had a gentleman pop up in the Caribbean. It was a pain shipping him back to France, but this just shows that agents do still spawn.
As to the total number of them. I thought the max limit on any type of agents is 12.

Yep, 12 is the limit. Why I could not get beyond 11 is unknown to me. They did seem to spawn slowly and when they died it took a while for them to be replaced.
I overheard somewhere that the government types have an effect on the speed of spawn.

Something is definitely going on here!
My first 1.5 campaign. Playing as GB
It is1726 and I have 8 schools and 5 observatories, working on a 6th. I have 6 Gentlemen. Most schools have never seen an agent, and most have spawn in my home region and two in Scotland. None so far in North America where there are 4 schools. All but two schools are classical universities.
It has been a while since I saw the who spawns what best item, but I don’t think that Protestant Constitutional Monarchies were at the low end of spawning Gentleman.
