Welcome to the forum!

If you are new to EB, heres the FAQ (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=84854), be sure to have the fixes for 1.2 installed (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=109936)

BTT: If you have a clean 1.5 RTW installation and did make no mistakes with the installation of EB it is probably a wrong shortcut. Use the shortcut "EB-Singleplayer" in your RTW directory, not the shortcut from the startmenu. Did you install it outside of the "program files" directory?

If you followed the instructions mentioned here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=80270) you should have them direct inside D\Games\The Creative Assembly\Rome Total War.

Otherwise use the trivial script to start EB.

You do not need them, but they give additional information about units and building trees.
I installed them in my program files directory, but you can also make a sub-directory in your RTW folder.

Hey, long time appreciator of EB here, finally upgraded to 1.2 after a year or so away from EB. First things first, I think this is perhaps the most addictive game I've ever played (hence why I had to step away from it during an upsurge in uni coursework) and think it's an absolute triumph.

Though I find myself having the same problem as DarkMInd, in that every application I run that says EB either doesn't work or takes me into RTW vanilla, despite following the installation instructions to the letter 3 times. The missing Play Singleplayer application is something that I find perplexing, could someone provide a way to get this shortcut or is that not possible?

Thanks in advance :2thumbsup:

Create a new shortcut to your RTW-exe. Open the abilites and edit the target line.

It should look like this "C:\My games\RomeEB\RomeTW.exe" -mod:eb -show_err -ne

the text until \RomeTW.exe varies according to your installation path.

Should work...if not post again!

Fantastic! That worked a treat. I also had problems about a debugger but found the solution here:

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=110536

and it works! Thanks again XSamatan! :2thumbsup:

I may not see daylight for a few days now...

Hi, I also have this same problem but when I try making a new shortcut with the targed "C:\My games\RomeEB\RomeTW.exe" -mod:eb -show_err -ne it tells me that it is invalid. I'm pretty sure I installed it correctly, and I have no idea what to do.

Sorry about resurrecting this post but I figured I'd use an old one rather than make a whole new thread.

You don't have to use "C:\My games\RomeEB\".

As I don't know how good your technical understanding is, I start from scrap (no offense):

Open Windows Explorer and get to your RTW directory (where you can see Rome TW.exe and some files of EB)

right-click on RomeTW.exe and select "Create shortcut" (a new file will appear)

right click on your new created shortcut and select the "target" line

after Rome TW.exe" add -mod:eb -show_err -ne (after the " without any changes)

if you installed EB right it will run now, if not or anything is unclear post again!

It still says that the target is invalid when I try to change the target.

Thank you for the help, by the way.

Hmm, ok.

Please post the exact path of your RTW directory, so I can give you the shortcut target.

You installed EB and RTW in the same folder?

Yeah, they're in the same folder. What do you mean path? To get to the RTW folder with EB in it it goes like...

"C:\EB\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe"

It's in C, then into a folder I labeled EB and then we get the Rome total war folder. In that folder I put Europa Barbarorum when I downloaded it.

Hey Kinovi,

you posted exact what I needed. Your target line for the new shortcut is:

"C:\EB\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -mod:eb -show_err -ne

That should do the trick if EB is properly installed, which brings me to point 2....

In that folder I put Europa Barbarorum when I downloaded it.
You moved the EB files directly after downloading to your directory? Or did you install them there?
