Unable to improve resolution in campaign and battlemaps

When running EB, I have tried every everything, including checking and unchecking the widescreen option, but can't change the resolution. I have all the options available, but it looks no different. Seems like I can select any resolutions I want but the campaign and battle maps look the same - terrible. RTW looks fine when I run it if that info helps

In the following folder:
Rome - Total War\EB\preferences
find preferences.txt

backup!

the values you want to change are

STRATEGY_RESOLUTION:YYYYxYYYY
BATTLE_RESOLUTION:YYYYxYYYY

replace the "YYYY" with your intended resolution (probably your default desktop res)

I'm not quite sure, but if you start EB with the trivial script, you should be able to change it that way.

Thanks for the response :) I'm at work so will have to try your solution when I get home tonight. I understood everything except for the second part where you talked about starting EB with trivial script. Sorry if this is basic knowledge, but I don't know what that means. Thanks again for the help!

Read the FAQ(https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=84854) for the basic infos about EB.

Trivial script comes with EB, if you did not uncheck it at the installation search it on your PC.

ok - I think I have been using it. If you double click on it it pulls up the window where you can clothe the naked warriars and a couple other options. Well now I can't wait to try your fix. Thanks again!
