So, long story short, I started an Egyptian campaign. Played for several years over a couple of days with 3 save files. Then a couple of days ago I went to load the most recent save and the game crashes. So i tried the other saves, they all also crash.

Mostly i chalk it up to some form of corruption and start a new game as the Romans. Everything was going fine until 244 BC, I saved the game last night and went to bed. Then I tried to load the game this morning and it crashes. I went to try all my back up saves, they all crash too. I tried starting a new game, save it, and it loads just fine. But, I really dont want to have to start over again if it is at all avoidable.

I downloaded and ran all of the permanent hotfixes as well as vAmP's player preferences solution to no avail. Attached is a copy of the validation text file, but i couldn't upload my most recent save because it says that the file is too large. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If all of your files are corrupted, it is very annoying and rarely IMHO.

Did you try to switch the .exe to Alex or BI? Bovi mentioned that sometimes this could help...

[If you don't have one of these upload your file to rapidshare or filefront and PM me the link, I'll try it]

Maybe an more seasoned member can help you too...:smash:

I haven't tried either BI or Alex. I was wondering if perhaps saving the files externally and then doing a clean install of Rome+EB would help?

More than anything, I'd just like to know what causes this sort of corruption and how to avoid it in the future.

I'm not sure if that could help, as you are able to load other saves, so it seems only this files are doomed.

If all savefiles are corrupted, I'm quite sure that RTW/EB itself would be the problem, but thats just my private guess, anything behind that goes over my mind.

Thanks for your help. Ill try saving them and reinstalling. But if it doesn't work it wont be the end of the world to start over.
