What do you all use? I like Norton 360 quite a bit and I use AVG free at home. I'm looking at inexpensive kit and kaboodle packs.

I use none, as they are generally very buggy or hog memory like crazy.

I just use an hardware firewall+windows firewall with Symantec Antivirus+Spybot: Search and Destory and keep away from porn/dodgy websites and don't download trojans/spyware from scam sites.

Never had any problems.

I thought Norton was Symantec? Norton from Symantec, right?

I've been happy with a combination of NOD32 (http://www.eset.com/) and Superantispyware (http://www.superantispyware.com/).

Norton is from Symantec for HOME users.

Symantec Antivirus is an enterprise edition, which strips away all the nonsense and memory hogging features, leaving a bare bones but very powerful anti virus. Conveniently, I get this for free as well. (due to University site licence :beam:)

If one were to "obtain" every single anti-virus and Internet security program on the market, would that convert their PC into an impregnable fortress?

No. Some AV may conflict with each other, all AV may still fail to recognize something in the wild (like Zeus), and there is still the Problem Between Keyboard And Chair.

Use Nagamasatek's award winning Common Sense Antivirus 2009.

When it comes to firewalls I use the same product labelled LENSKY Common Sense Firewall 2009andon as well.

Yet about the antivirus programs, I'll be posting a comparative thread here to see your feedback as well.

Edit: "here" is here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=122345).

And to think Spybot CAUSED my last viral infection. Although my dad is a very large PEBKAC.

KIS (Kaspersky Internet Security), which is more comprehensive than the regular Kaspersky Anti-Virus. The best commercial one out there IMO - it usually tops every anti-virus competition. All my computer nerd friends us it too.

Spybot? Meh, it cannot detect even a third of what good paid ones, like BitDefender, which is usually the second-best. I used it in conjunction with AdAware and Avast! back when I was not-as-computer-nerdish, and the combination of the three was fine. Then my father (rather foolishly) bought McAfee, which I gave a try, but later returned to the store. Then I got Kaspersky, it found two worms that nothing else detected.

Kaspersky is the best, and it has the fastest reponse times of any anti-virus in the world, period (each infection found in the world with Kaspersky is automatically reported to their site, where you can see all the malware around the world). However it is rather memory-intensive, so I turn it off when gaming. Oh, and it is rather expensive.
