Let me start by saying I loved EB1, but the names just didn't cut it for me. The names were just too... I don't know... hard to read. I want to request a normal name option ( like in RTW and M2TW ) instead of the barbarian names. ( or is it latin?... what language are the names in anyway? )

Is this too hard to ask?

We added subtitles to all buildings and all units in english, which I hope sufficed. If not, I'm sure that some enterprising fan will quickly release their own version of the text files. However we will not work on something that we don't believe adds to the depth of the game, where doing so will stay the release of the mod.

Do you think AFTER the mod is released you can work on english names?

No, because after the mod is released (and I assume you mean at which point no more needs to be done to the mod - an ideal that I believe can never be achieved) we will all be taking well deserved rests.

Seriously, someone will definitely come along with a mod for EBII that replaces the names with English ones. And if they don't, I'm sure you will have the tenacity to do something like that yourself - it does seem very important to you. However, I really cannot see something like this ever being done by the EB team, because it is the exact opposite of what we are striving for, and generally, as a volunteer outfit, we don't spend out time doing things that we think are a detriment to the spirit of Europa Barbarorum.

This is as far as the EB team should and needs to go in translating the names, in my opinion. It can't be too difficult to scan your eyes just a bit to the right to read the English translation, I don't believe.

Whats the issue, the english is right there. Admitedly it does take some getting used to and is less fun when its 4am in the morning and you are tired as hell and starting a new faction for the first time with lots of reading, but its a perfect middleground that the team has found.

As for language, I believe that it is in the local factions language or as close as they can get it. For example, romans units and buildings are in Latin, Parthian units are in parlavan (iranian?/other?) and greek units are generally in an anglicised version of greek for example. Definately adds some flavour to the game. And you will learn quick enough, even just looking at the pictures if you don't want to know and read each units name.

EDIT: I would even go so far as to say that this is my favourite part of this mod compared to others. The fact that unit descriptions have been fleshed out, buildings have a little historical section in them and that faction descriptions on the new campaign page are almost painfully long to read. Its beautiful and shows a bit of dedication. I realized how important it is when I went to play another fairly popular mod (which I won't bag out here) for M2TW and found that for most of the factions had there new campaign descriptions reused from M2TW, even to the point of being totally inaccurate considering that the mod was set a few hundred years after M2TW. It all shows in the little things.

EB should keep the native names of units and buildings, it really adds to the game and also makes you learn the words. :idea2: Well the ones you can speak anyways. :inquisitive:

The language stuff was one of the main reasons why I chose EB over another mod. Any suggestion to remove that would result in utter horror on my part.
