I'm getting some tomorrow.
I hear it is very Salty, I shall use very little on a buttered piece of toast.
I can eat small pieces of anchovy, so it can't be that bad.
Wish your Yank friend some luck. I promise even If i dont like it much i'll still make a point of eating the whole jar.
like I said, It Cant be that bad. It is not inedible.:sweatdrop:
Nah, that's all wrong, no butter and as thick as possible, without bread is even better
it isn't bad, love it with cheese, and it makes a great gravy

I'm more of a marmite guy myself, and perhaps the only person within a hundred mile vicinity that keeps any in stock, mostly used for when I make English Breakfast. mmmmmmmm...

Start with buttered toast and then thinly spread over the top. Eventually you will work up to more of it.
Try a toasted vegemite and cheese sandwhich. Great for a snack.
Vegemite and avo is also delicious.
Don't. Do. It.
Preserve your taste-buds!

Just drink the beer and throw the rest away.

You might be regretting that one.:sweatdrop:

Step 1: Take a lightly toasted piece of bread.
Step 2: Spread just enough to cover the bread
Step 3: Eat
Best toast.
Otherwise just stick a finger in and eat it. Its a bit strong.
@Rythmic: Get out of my country.
Rub some of it behind your ears if you plan on going hiking - keeps the drop-bears away. :smug2:

Strange but true. There was a story recently about a man who went hiking with a mate. He was torn apart by the drop bears, but his mate got away scot-free because he smeared vegemite on the back of his neck when he saw the bears... well... drop.

Can you describe the difference between marmite and vegemite? I love marmite, which I spread on a thick piece of bread, either wholemeal or preferably granular. The bread should be sliced just over half an inch thick, and the marmite should be spread, if not exactly thickly, certainly reasonably generously. This should be followed by another slice of bread, slightly thinner cut, spread with good quality fruit conserve - my current fave is blackcurrant. All washed down with a large mug of water.

in my opinion, Vegimite is quite a bit sweeter tasting than marmite, which is an automatic turnoff for me. If you like marmite chances are you won't like vegimite, and the same goes for people who like Vegimite, will find marmite to taste much too bitter.

I have only tried the kiwi variety which I don't like for exactly the same reason why you don't like vegemite, it's a bit sweeter than vegemite. I've never tried the english variety so I can't comment on that.

Hey, it's the Gong Show! What's it doing in Australia?!
That's Red Faces (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlmH5lCh8vs&feature=related), it was a segment on Hey Hey It's Saturday, which got axed in '99. The vegemite kid act was off the "reunion" shows they've been doing the last few weeks.

Thankfully no more of them.
Good concept, bad execution.
I didn't watch a second of it, and I'm happier for it.

I just ate two slices of toast spread with butter and a somewhat thin layer of Vegemite.
It's not bad. I kinda like it. :2thumbsup:
We went to this store in montclair, that had all kinds of british and commonwealth products. Including BACON FLAVORED POTATO CHIPS!!!1!!1!!
My dad bought a union jack mug to go with his jaguar in the driveway, and a bag of Allsorts, which i have observed he reacts to like a cat to kitty treats.
I'm gonna go make a Vegemite and cheese sandwich now.

I ate a vegemite and cheese sandwich but i put a little too much on. Still, it doesn't taste as bad as a lot of over-dramatic Yanks may make it seem. It was pretty good with cheese too.
Rule of thumb: Don't eat it by itself. It's too salty.
Now everytime I burp it tastes like beef gravy.

Dude... it tastes like beer?! That's awesome! Why do Americans not buy this stuff by the pound?!
@miotas: I see the confusion; this seems to be a regualr variety show, with a sketch similar to the Gong Show. Granted, most Americans don't even know about it, but after finding about it by accident I believe I have discovered possibly the freakiest show in American TV history:

I'd provide the link, but swearing.
Youtube search for "Good News Week vegemite" first or second result.
Crowd finishes singing the Vegemite theme song
"We sang that at Gallipoli and it scared the :daisy: out of the turks!"
"We don't know our own national anthem, but we know that!"
American: "I feel like Sigourney Weaver in Aliens 2 realising that shes in a room of hatching eggs." mouthing "What the :daisy:!"

the reason most americans hate vegemite is that you dang ozzies forgot to put "CONCENTRATED yeast extract" on the jar.
Otherwise we think it's like Peanut butter and put it on all thick like.
I'm lucky i have ozzie friends that informed me of this early.

I might go home and check my jar now.
Mine definitely says concentrated. Your label looks slightly different to mine, zoom out and show us a pic of the whole label, maybe they needed to put a different label on it to sell it in yankee land.

One problem mate... Kraft is an American company.
@ miotas - I believe they have fewer regulations on what must go on the label. The Concentrated part is probably mandated by whichever commission regulates such things.

If miotas didn't know that...
Should do.
