Hi thx mate for your reaction
But isnt the 1950xtx a older card mate?, the ATI Radeon 4870 newer would nt this be beter for
MTW VI and S TW and RTW, MTWII and even ETW?
Its difficult to choose a good card and from wot i heard the the ATI Radeon 4870 is a real competitor for N videa and if you see the link: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=40869 Nvidea aint responding to any one, so way border with N videa if the cards from ATI radeon are good then i will buy ATI radeon and never buy a N videa card ever.

I believe AggonyJudge may be referring to the last ATI card made that runs STW or MTW without issue? I cannot verify this. I have heard that the X850 cards run with the older Catalyst 5.7 drivers and these don't have any issues with MTW. The only X series Radeon that I've run MTW on is an onboard X1200 and that ran ok. Any later HD cards will probably have some issues. It's up to you whether you go for HD 4870 but be aware that there is a big chance that you will have trouble running MTW. There are several different problems affecting the two first TW games. The inability to direct your units in battle only affects the Nvidia 8xxx and 9xxx series as far as I know (though I've seen this problem on a 7xxx series and cured it by using old drivers and/or some different settings). The other problem is the campaign CTD which can usually be cured with the button fix. You will generally need this for most newer cards. The rarer problem is the slow loading screen. I have this latter problem and haven't managed to find any solution. The game takes about 3 minutes + to load a battle or the campaign map. All of these problems are brought on by newer graphics hardware/drivers.

My laptop has a ATI Mobility 4850, and runs MTW with no issues. You would want something a little newer I'm sure, but I would imagine the 48XX series should run the game.

Can confirm ATI 48XX series runs perfectly. Minor issues are fixable here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=1529357&postcount=2).

That's a typical auto-reply. I doubt you'll hear any more though...

Well a HD 48xx series ATI card should run everything with no trouble - and there's two confirmations from Drone and Psychonaut. It's really up to yourself if you want to risk it of course.

That would be a grey area. It may be an idea to make a thread in the hardware/software forum and ask for advice?

If you emailed them with that spelling and grammar, I'm not surprised.

That's the CTD forum. I hung around there for about 2 years before I got mine working.

check the nvidia forums , there is a huge thread about this error that has been going for over 2 years , with more than 120 replies and over 70 thousand views, still nothing has been done .... and this is just one of many threads on the net about this .

A possible solution is to buy an ATI card. It's not a solution for everyone though and is not guaranteed to solve all of your problems.
