As stated in the subject I can't take a screen shot.

Any help would be appreciated.

I can no problem with Vanilla Rome.

Screenshots turn up black or do not turn up at all?

If the former, check this thread (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=104591). If the latter, I have no idea.

Probably you activated AA in your EB options. Change that to no AA, that should work.

Otherwise, use a program like fraps (http://www.fraps.com/download.php)
