My wife and I have been planning a vacation to visit a few friends in Greece this next summer, we're going to be staying in a town called Atalanti for a few days to catch up, but we're planning on spending two weeks in the area to stretch out and explore. I know there are a few Greek Orgahs around, and I'm hoping maybe someone might give me some insight into what I should see, and visit while I'm there, or what to look out for. :laugh4:
If anyone is willing to offer an opinion, I'd be glad to hear it.
Have a great time, mate. (And color me jealous!) :medievalcheers:

Depends what you wanna do. I personally prefer northern Greece (Thessaloniki and that region) for a classic sea and sand vacation although many Greek islands are really beautiful. If you wanna visit historical sites, you need to go south to Athens.
Visiting Mt. Athos is also a good idea. It's filled with beautiful orthodox monasteries, but your wife can't go there so you'd probably wanna skip it to.
What Prefecture is it in?

If I went to Hellas, I would want to see Sparta. After watching 300 that place sounds awesome!

Fthiotis.
I know theres quite a bit of historical stuff I can look at while I'm in the area, Athens isn't too far (actually, thats where I'm flying to and from.) So, chances are I'll see the Acropolis and other such sites, although I'm the kind of vacationer that prefers to stay off the well worn path. I know it sounds almost heretical to say that, but I'm not going to stand in the same line as the 400 Pound Version of John Wayne again, bad experience with tourists at the Louvre.
I'd like to get out on the beaches for a bit, maybe even take a boat trip from Atalanti and explore the coast off Euboea. At this point, I've got enough time to get a pretty gist of what I want to do, before we get there, so any suggestions at this time, are fair game in my book.

yeah i like staying in non touristy places as well. Nothing better than going to sicily with legit italians and staying in a small town for a few weeks by the sea. Ah heaven.
