Hello,

Due to an overwhelming response and interest in the pre-sale event for vBulletin 4.0 Publishing Suite, we've decided to extend an offer to those customers with inactive licenses.

For licenses that expired in the last 12 months, we are offering an extra $45 discount for advance ordering, in addition to the publicly available pre-sale savings. This means the all new vB 4.0 Publishing Suite will cost you only $190, a total savings of $95.

For licenses that expired more than 12 month ago, we are offering an extra $25 discount for advance ordering, in addition to the publicly available pre-sale savings. This means the all new vB 4.0 Publishing Suite will cost you only $210, a total savings of $75.

These limited time offers expire on October 30, 2009. Beginning on October 31, the price will be $285.

You will be able to take advantage of this offer in the next couple of days - we are currently working to make it an option in your shopping cart. We will notify you once this offer is live on the website.

We plan to update to this new software: http://www.vbulletin.com/
The license wasn't renewed last April, so we have to renew that to download and use the new version of the vbulletin forum. It also seems possible to upgrade to the Suite, which contains the Forum and some other functions such as a blog which is now another part of this site.

Some feedback about this choice is welcome.

Edit: thanks to all for the contributions.

We have to decide whether we use the forum only or the whole Suite. Generally there are cons and pros to the Suite, I'll also have a chat with our host about it.

I'd say do it. The reason is that the software will be kept more current with bug and security fixes, the security ones being the biggest reason IMO. It's already been hacked once to my knowledge, and that was not a fun event.

I don't know much about fora, but this seems like the kind of thing you'd have to do anyway in the near future, so you may as well do it now. Should you choose to do so, you can count on a donation from me :2thumbsup:

Well, I'm really not quite tech savvy enough to get my head around the differences between the regular and suite, besides the blog. Not entirely sure how I feel about the blog. However, I do very much support the move to a newer v-bulletin, especially if we can keep most of our themes for the .org(particularly Sengoku ). Newer security measures are, at this point, my biggest concern after our unfortunate episode over the summer.

Well, if it's newer, better and uhm, better, and perhaps also newer and better then why should we not do it? I mean if you're already taking donations, it sounds a bit like a done deal or do you have an alternative for the money in mind? Like loose girls and cocktails? ~D

I get the impression my fellow Orgahs are missing the significance of the icon:

This is no longer active.

hmm...help the Org or buy a new rebreakable board...choices. :beam:
I am afraid that the rebreakable board wins out this time, maybe next month I will be able to.

I want(ed) to but first i wanna know the money is actually going towards the new software, not that some whacker comes and says it's all bad and Tosa spends all the money on booze and becomes an alcoholic. :sweatdrop:

Considering the number of Orgahs, one teeny little donation(I donated the remainder of my scantily used paypal account, 3 bucks:sweatdrop:) will be quite enough. A couple bucks/euros from enough people will go far quickly.

Hello,

Thank you for all the contributions.

I'll also have a chat with our hosts about the choice between the forum only or the whole Suite. The Suite may have some performance drawbacks (larger application). But I'll also nose around at the publisher and some other users.
