You're clearly like that guy who starts liking an Indie band just after they start going mainstream. You think it's cool, but all the really Indie kids were into them soooo long ago.

Swine flu or some other type of flu seems to be hitting my area (suburban Philadelphia) pretty hard. A number of teenagers on Facebook claim they have Swine flu but whether it is a legitimate claim, I can't say. However, whatever it is, a lot of people are sick. My son said the hall at his school have been relatively empty the last day or two.

I don’t know if it is something to celebrate. Getting over it maybe.

I had the verity of Swine Flue that went around in the late 1960s. It was Not Fun.

We just had a visit from some flu over the last couple of weeks. But not “That One“.

We have kids in school and guess what they brought home...

High fevers for days, aches and pains, the whole 9 yards and when it seems over you are still weak and everything is a huge effort.

But Hay! If you are enjoying yours, more power to you!

It was to my understanding, that the highest percentage of people who got swine flu were the ones that were doing a poor job of washing their hands after a lavatory visit.

I dont have it....yet. At my school there are 110 recorded cases of it so far (out of like 2000), and I ride a different schools bus home and they got it all over their school. Im 99% sure in the next month or two im going to get death swine flu. I can just feel it. Granted im in peak physical condition and very clean, im still doomed.

Indeed, my girls have already been vaccinated. I decided against it, so that it frees up supply for some other kid. I'm healthy, and obsessive compulsive about washing my hands, so my chances of getting it, aren't really terribly high... *knock on wood*

lol, I am not worried about it killing me, personally I think that the whole thing is blown out of proportion. It still stinks to have it though.

I think I had it few weeks ago, I am never sick but felt pretty bad for a week. I wish you a good recovery, it's no fun at all I really felt bad, as if my legs just couldn't carry me anymore, so very weak it was pretty scary.
Thanks Frag. That is about how I felt too. I needed to call my bro over to help me do basic things like help me lift myself off my bed. Every joint in my body has been killing me too.

lol Wakizashi, I would not get the vaccine either, as something with such limited testing could be just as bad or worse, but don't think that being healthy and washing will save you. I have been trying to get back in shape and eat right so I can continue testing up in Taekwondo, and I keep myself very clean, but several people at my Uni caught it, and now I have it. The chances of it killing you are less than regular flu though, so I would not worry about it. All it will do is make you feel like trash for a week or so. :P

Swine Flu is completed overrated. I wish grown men and women stopped being complete wussies over it, especially as far as going for Tamiflu.

Only people who need to be concerned are pensioners, young kids and people who are already ill and thus vulnerable. Everyone else should grow a thick skin.

There have been deaths in their thousands due to being misdiagnosed with Swine Flu, because of these wussies who cannot handle the sniffles. I also personally had two family members end up in critical state because they were ill with other thinks and the medics just insisted on fobbing them off with Tamiflu.

Not necessarily. We may be in for a smaller scale repeat of Spanish flu. Out (I think) 7 deaths in BC, 1 was was a healthy woman with nothing impeding her immune system. While I do agree that the media is as always, blowing it totally out of scale, mutations are always a risk factor.

The flu is the only illness I ever get, and I have it almost every year. This year, I've had it twice, first in January, after the door got stuck at work and I was standing 8 hours without outdoor clothing at a temperature of around 2-3 degrees...

The second time was this summer, after a trip to Italy. That may have been the swine flu.

This friday, I had a headache, runny nose, weak body, red eyes and that sick feeling in my mouth. But I did not have a fever... All weekend I waited and waited, wishing that finally, for the first time in my life, I would get to stay home from work because I was sick, and also the general awesomeness of having the swine flu. But on sunday, I was much better, and today I just have some snot in my nose. It just isn't meant to be...:sweatdrop:

There is too much noise about that. In an ordinary flu, people also die. The difference is that the media do not pay much attention on it. So don't worry, be happy!

People all around me are sick, there is even something like epidemic of AH1N1 in Bulgaria but I really see little point in anti-flu vaccine. I hope I am lucky enough to survive. :beam:

P.S. Mutantions can be a risky factor but be an optimist. So far we have been lucky. ~:)

The various types of "common" influenza floating around limit themselves to the elderly, young, or otherwise immunologically impeded when it comes to actual deaths.

But as of now, it's blowing over. Good times for all.

I got it... from my daughter who also got it (from kindergarten).
She got it bad with fever, vomit, running nose and coughing.

I on the other hand appears to only have a slight cold with stuffy nose and a cough. I feel fine, but stay at home because I am apparently infectious. They say you should stay at home 7 days. This is my 4th and I feel fine. The cough is nearly gone.

They say people react to it differently. Some are hospitalised and even dies. Others just get a mild flu.

Yeah, I got it really, really bad, but my brothers barely had a sniffle, and they all got it. My cat could tell I was sick, and she stayed with me the whole time I was sick. I was a little worried because she seemed sick afterward, but she got over it. I read today that cats can actually catch swine flu from humans. I hope that is not what happened. That would make me feel really bad. :P
