Hi all.
I remember there was a discussion about Henry the Lion whereas nobody could provide some info about him.
I'm glad to help out. Henry was Duke of Saxony (and later also Bavaria) during the time of Frederick Barbarossa.
You could say he was probably the most powerful landlord in the HRE at that time. At first he worked together closely with Barbarossa, conquering parts of Pomerania for the HRE. But later he paid more attention to his own agendas thus becoming an opponent of the Emperor.
The situation escalated when he refused to add his forces on Barbarossa's campaign in Italy, resulting in his being banned and stripped of all titles. After losing the inevitable battle. he then went into exile to his father-in-law Henry II. of England, making several unsuccessful attempts of getting back in charge of Saxony at least.
That's all I know.
PS: I don't want to start another topic right now, but I've also seen people say their English campaign was boring, personally I don't think so. I started one at Early Normal, and it is now 1244 and the strategic situation is very interesting, I am in the position to choose my enemies or just watch as the rest of the world is at war (but not with me , hehe). If there is interest, I'm sure I could upload the save-file or mail it (don't know the size of the save games though, but I guess I will find out eventually )...
