Did EB change this system? How so?
When I click on an option, after I take a city, it tells me one thing, but the reality is another.
For example. I see that the last/bottom option says to enslave. But after I hit that button, the city burns, I see no slave resource and a message pops up saying I put the town to the sword. That makes me think I exterminated the city, rather than enslaved it.

Well, I'm pretty sure they actual system is hardcoded, but the options EB uses seem more realistic to me. I believe the second option is now expel. It's basis is that the conquerers gather up a part of the population (usually dissidents and those most likely to cause trouble) and scatter them throughout the conquerer's lands. It's an old tactic called "divide and conquer." My guess is that it replaced enslave because the option adds population to your towns/cities, increasing your tax rate and pool of recruitment. However, slaves earned no income and thus would pay no taxes, and no one in their right mind would give slaves weapons (Sparticus anyone?). So the exterminate option better represents this as it adds a lot of money, drastically reduces the settlement's population, and doesn't increase the tax base or men available for the military.

They simply changed the names around to something for realistic. Exterminate has been changed to "Enslave" for the reasons Germanicus explained. Slaves would give no tax anyways, they would be looted for valuables, and are more useful than bodies.
Just curious, so how did if we exterminate a settlement, we just made a one time big cash, and nothing more until the town was stabilized?
