I'll get straight to the point: Can I pull this (http://www.hats-plus.com/p-437-bailey-crushable-fedora-hat.aspx) off? If so, what could I possibly wear with it? Even if your answer to #1 is no, humor me and answer #2 anyway.
For your reference, here's a picture of the hat in question:

...and here's a picture of me, already looking stylin':

You be needing a pimp cane.
IMO, you may be able to, but would need to see mannerisms etc. but i'm that picky.
Black jacket, black shirt, red tie, red pants, black belt, black shoes. Or Black jacket, red shirt, black tie, black pants, red belt, black shoes.
Halloween?

I have a blood-red shirt and tie, but that might not be a good enough match.
And no, not Halloween, just to have.
Brilliant  Nobody wears real hats anymore, it's all caps nowadays. I think a hat like that needs a pinstripe suit.

Here's the same hat in blue. Try to find the corresponding outfit to match your red hat. https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v517/hoppy84/Deuces1.jpg

I think the color is more of an issue than the hat itself. Red restricts your options unless that hat is for a particular outfit or occassion.

I agree, with hats you should go for neutral colors like white, grey, black or brown. If you really want to have color that is different try to stay on the darker side of things, a dark color looks much better and goes with much more than a light color for instance.
:book:
Go for the brown or black one.
You'll make that hat look good, baby ~:pimp:

Red & black or red & gray....but then don't listen to me. I depend on the wife to color coordinate me or I'd look like Herb.https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v517/hoppy84/herb_tarlek.jpg
What's wrong with Herb? Is it because he's not wearing a hat?

Mwuhahaha. Why am I not surprised?
Anyways- I really haven't got a solid idea of what that hat goes with. Possibly a red shirt and black tie with that suit, perhaps.
I'm a big fan of hats, and I wear them whenever I can get away with it. That said, yeah, the color is a problem. In my experience brimmed hats should be black, gray or another such subdued color.
If you want something bright, your best bet for getting away with it is a beret or a kangol-type thing like this (http://www.kangolstore.com/p/216950/c/1742/Wool-504.aspx).
And don't get me started on my secret love, pith helmets (http://www.villagehatshop.com/pith_helmet.html).

The bright color works if you are showing your sport team color at an event or in a play/movie, but not as a regular wardrobe item.
This must be fashion week. We've had threads on gloves and hats. Anyone need help with socks? :clown:

I have no doubt that I could pull off a more subdued color, but IMHO I've always been able to get away with a little bit more, fashion-wise, than my friends. Take the above picture, for example. I was quite pleased when I found out that one of the characters from Left 4 Dead 2 was wearing the exact same outfit (minus the blood). :laugh4:
I guess this might be pushing the envelope a bit too much, though?

Well, then maybe you could make it work. Some people can get away with making a bold fashion statement and some can't. From what you are saying, maybe you are in the former category. WWJRS - What Would Joan Rivers Say? :laugh4:

I met my wife while I was going through a suede fedora period and the college girls of the time loved it (But in all fairness it was brown). It can definitely be done, you just have to have the panache to carry it through and an utter unconcern for what haters may say.
I still have the hat, much crumpled and shrunken by age and multiple moves across country. It served me well.
I will say don't suddenly show up at bars where people know you with a new style like that, go to new places and meet new people.
edit: As far as what I wore with it, the same things I always wore; random t-shirts, slacks, and a beaten up brown leather jacket. You should probably drift more towards the look you have above, we're built differently. I would suggest something other than white for your jacket unless you've recently gotten a tan (no offense).
...I should further add that I'm currently sporting a mohawk (And pulling it off decently if the local MILFs are to be believed) so you might not want my fashion advice!

Hats are nice. Tagelmusts are better. You'll be stylin' in one of these.

Finally headwear I can look good in!
I would say pulling that hat off is mostly about confidence... aslong as you feel good in it it will look ok (assuming the rest of the outfit works)

Wow, Lemur just converted me.
The problem with tagelmusts is that you'll be stylin' all the way to the no-fly list...
I'm a fan of the Australian/South African hats. Leather, breathing room, and it's quite useful in rain or sun...

In all seriousness, yeah I think it would look okay.

All red. It must all be red. Everything, skin and all.
I'm not entirely sure what goes with red except red.

Personality/demeanor affect the impact of wardrobe on those who observe. If you are going to wear something bold, for it to work, the way you carry yourself and interact should compliment what you wear. Is your personality/demeanor such that you can wear that hat and the bold clothing to go with it, without coming off as ostentatious?

Location/context is important. A red fedora screams "Notice Me!", so you don't want to hide in transportation; it demands a walk-about, and a confident, but distracted, cool demeanor - as if you hadn't noticed that you accidentally put the red one on today.
East Coast, Urban: viewers will assume you are "in sales"
Deep South: they'll assume you're a cocky Yankee, out to stir up trouble
West Texas: they'll wonder why your brim is so small
Minnesotans: might wonder why you're hunting off-season
Southern Californians: will assume you're an aspiring performer
I wonder how London, Paris, Berlin, Rome & Moscow might apprehend the sight. Or Peking.
The remainder of your wardrobe demands solid colours; shun earth-tones. Shoes, no boots.
Hats are nice. Tagelmusts are better. You'll be stylin' in one of these.

I think GH was looking for something a little different to the standard issue moderator headgear.

It should work out fine; the problem with a hat like that is it stands out...you need to build the outfit around it.
For colour selection, think heraldry: some combinations work very well; how do you want them balanced and arranged on your frame?
Gah! I'm babbling like a fashionista :p
