Hi there

When I play Hayasdan or Pahlava, sooner or later there will appear a Ghost General, when moving him out of town. Why is that so?

When I play Pahlava, there are many CTD's when I attack a hostile army. It happenes between klicking to fight the battle myself and the loading-screen.

I have installed all fixes, Version = EB 1.2

Other Question

Does EB run on Windows 7? I will have installed it on my new PC

EB seems to work with Windows 7: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=123030

The only circumstances I've seen a ghost general appear were:
A) When you use the move_character cheat on a FM who is inside a town and
B) A bug with the client ruler script which is no longer in EB 1.2
So did you perhaps use the cheat?

The pre-battle CTDs I have had were mostly in huge battles that involved reinforcements or more units than my PC could handle.

Hi burn_again, thanks for the quick answer.

No, I know about the effect this cheat has, if you move a character, who is in a city. I did not use any cheat at all in these campaigns.

There were no reinforcements in this battle. It was a very small one, 1 FM of my own against 3 units of light infantry of the AS.

Could it be, that my PC is too old and weak? *G* Maybe it gets better after I get the new one

This is the savegame:

Take the FM from Khiva and attack the Seleukid force just south of it. Then I get a CTD

I downloaded your save game and tested it:

- don't think you PC is too weak, such a small battle shouldn't be a problem

- when I move out the FM and attack the army I get a CTD too, several times, with script on and off

- when I use the unit of archers instead to attack, I also get the CTD

- when I didn't attack them, they moved next to Khiva in the next turn, I attacked them and got the CTD

I did not get the CTD when:

- I used move_character to move the army east of Khiva to attack it there

- I didn't attack them in the first turn, they moved next to Khiva in the next turn, I used the archers to attack them from behind with the FM in Khiva as reinforcement

Conclusion: I have no idea what it is :-(. I don't think it is trait-related, as I got it without FM too. Could be something with the map, but I doubt it. Best is probably to auto_win the battle and hope it doesn't happen again.

I also played the campaign for a few couple turns, moved FMs in and out of towns, but didn't see a ghost general.

Bad news :-( I will try what you said, but actually I cannot auto-calc the battle, because I would lose heavily. So I will let them besiege me, and do what you did. I have to fight it myself. Thank you very much for testing it.

In that case, i.e. if a CTD is stopping your case, using the "auto_win" command is not a cheat, so just use it!

I absolutely agree, you wouldn't take casualties if you fought that battle yourself.
If you really want to fight it yourself, try this:

- I didn't attack them in the first turn, they moved next to Khiva in the next turn, I used the archers to attack them from behind with the FM in Khiva as reinforcement

They didn't actually besiege Khiva, just stood next to it. I won with only a few casualties on the bodyguard unit.

I will try that, and if it does not work, I will use the auto_win attacker cheat. Thank you guys
